As stated on the Main NS.org Page, there will be a simultaneous release on STEAM, Valve's broadband gaming client-server system.

I'm sure people have plenty of thoughts and questions about what this means, which we'll be happy to answer here.

Because I don't use steam, I haven't got any question, but I want to congratulate the NS-team. As far as i know VALVe only supports popular mods with the Steam-thingie...

I also do not use steam, but I think that Valve's support for Natural Selection is important. Especially if there ever comes a need for Anti-Cheat Protection.

You got that right -- can you name any other unreleased mods that made it on stream?

As far as I know, being recognized as popular by VALVe ~AND~ not have been released yet is some pretty neato-torpedo stuff.

And is anyone besides me happy that they've updated the main page? :>

For all those too lazy to click the links : Steam is VALVe's answer to the evils of having to download large mods and patches. Essential, it streamlines the files to you, making long mod and patch downloads a thing of the past. ..... ...

A short description of Steam: STEAM is a program that helps the Developers of Games/Mods by distributing their Games/Mods theirself and patches of that games/mods to the end-user. It's currently in a open beta-test and free to download. A Developer who use Steam doesn't longer need to compile installation-files or to inform everyone about an update. All new files are instantly downloaded by steam to the enduser. This leads to the fact that steam is only useful for broadband-users since every file of the Game/Mod must be downloaded before playing. That's at least how I understand steam...

As far as I know, DoD and CStrike where the only mods on steam. Does this make NS, currently UNRELEASED, the third? Now THAT is just plain cool.

Wait, simultaneous release? Does this mean NS won't be on Steam until it's on Fileplanet or other mirrors?

    /me quietly stops installing Steam.
