Make Parts...disappear.

Can you make parts of model disappear?
As the title and description may have hinted, is it possible to make parts of a model disapear or at least become invisible? You see I have an idea for the CC where the marine inside is visible. Is this possible.

make a partial transparent transparency map (ok.. this is a 3dsmax thing..you can work with a greyscale map there,i dunno if this works in milkshape too).. or..adjust the alpha.. (can be done in the qc file?) dont ask me.. im not a modeler.. i just know it could be done

You mean disappear like this? If you applied this texture on 2 faces, alligned to form a rectangle, and applied masked transparency on it you would only see the teeth ingame, the blue background would be invisble, "disppear". Or do you mean something else?

BTW: Thx Sheena, you just gave me my new wallpaper

Close, but not exactly what I'm after. What I wanted was that when you were out of the commchair, the Marine that you could see sitting in there would be gone, but when you were in the comm chair, he would be visible (from a third person perspective). Cheers for the help anyway.

Well, you are able to move faces, to replace or to delete them, so could could do this. But the comm being inside when the CC is in use would have to be done with animating. So I think this is posibble, but on the other hand I read about some people having tried this without success. But I am not sure.

I suggest using this pic as wallpaper with ZMatrix running, colours set to red. Looks like inferno live ^^

ontopic: Well you asked if it was possible. I think it is. Some animating and vertex moving should do it.
