Help the Forum Newbie
Reoccurring jokes kill me, mainly because I have NO CLUE what they are talking about. Help me.

I found out about Smart_bomb, and all those jokes that go with him. But I still need to know about:
1: The Ferai. Gah. I've seen it in sigs, on the Artwork forum, but have no idea why its so funny.
2: The lork on the clorf.
3: I'm sure there are others. Enlighten me.

Note: If you want to ask about other insider jokes, feel free to post them. I'm sure the nice, helpful forum members will answer your questions, as well as mine. (Hint, Hint)

I'd be glad to, but I only know a few myself. Glad you found out about the Smart_Bomb thing, that comes in waves in this forum, and he was very true to his name. Anyway I can answer #1 for you. Just go here. That link will take you to the story about the Feraii that Beast wrote. Its just a fanfic that gets cut down every once in a while because it is such a good target. Personally I like the story, but you can decide for yourself.

As for #2, I've no idea but I've heard it a dozen times also. Could be Smart_Bomb related though.

Dunno how #2 got started but it is referring to lerks on the cliff, on the map ns_hera, outside marine spawn by the resource tower, there are cliffs where lerks can spike the RT down from.

No one mentions Smart_Bomb anymore really (that is, unless they enjoy a fork in the bum)

Well there is one but I wouldn't call it an inside joke, but some would. And it is ..... voogru. (no offence to voogru). He has a couple of ns servers which he makes plug-ins for, like the armory gives you health and such. Which lead to some jokes and remarks which seem to have died down since the launch of 2.0.

For more info about voogu go here: www.voogru.com

one of the origional moderators and fans of NS Moleculor

called the level 1 alien bob, hence his member title, and since the gorge is a fatteh, well thats how that one goes.

The Ferai was a story by Beast, and he constantly monkeys with photoshop and making ferai stuff and he incecently asks for people who could use them, and it became popular, it's a good story too

Also many inside jokes can be found hidden in member titles, etc [a prime example of such is Molec's member title]

The less said about bob the better, i feel. It was way before my time, but the word bob ended up on the swear filter list i believe.

The ferai thing, i'm not entirely sure how it started, but basically two factions evolved. The pro-ferai and anti-ferai. The pro-ferai were making pictures of the fluffy little things and the anti-ferai were talking about how tasty they are. It's all died down pretty much now since Beast (The creator of the ferai and writer of the fanfic) was getting more than a little irate. It's nothing really to do with the fanfic, just the character.

The other one, again, the less said the better. Smart_Bomb once made a ridiculous suggestion for NS. I won't link it directly since i think it's pretty unanemous that we want the whole thing to die. One of the suggestions was a "scorpian that hovars without flapping". So began a multitude of jokes, pictures, models... you name it, there was something with that scorpian in it.

Cormander! We nerd shirtguns! we got a lork on the clorf!

    aNeM claims credit to that.

A few other insider jokes are constant references to MonsieurEvil (MonsE) and SunnyD, Teenangst and other such.

    Ferai is made by Beast.

and I constantly poke fun @ Burr for being a drunk.

There was a time when Bob would get changed to skulk. 1 3 3 7 still gets changed to "elite", because flayer thinks "elite" sp33k is for cs nubs

Surprisingly enough, UrbanDictionary.com holds the answer to your question about the "Skorpian that hovars without flapping". I am curious but does anyone have a link to Smart_Bomb's guestbook? Never found anything on that.

The <3 is basically meant to represent a heart. Thus the message " I <3 you" would mean "I love you" just as many poster's claimed their undying affection for Smart_Bomb in his bleeding ulcer of a thread. Which I just read in its entirety, and felt the shockwave as billions of neurons were forever lost to me. (I won't deny that I most of those nuerons died because I was convulsing with laughter, but then the rest died when I saw what the thread degenerated into when Smart_Bomb tried to make a "comeback" like some formerly famous actor...)

...Anyway, I don't know the origins of the <3 symbol, but if it started on these forums, which I think it did because I haven't seen it anywhere else, then it goes back to even before Smart_Bomb's times. Possibly to the first "I <3 Flayra" posts, you know how those are.

Thanks for clearing this up Cold-Nite. This explains why a quick google search didn't explain what the heck <3 meant.

    bacon

this is also a funny and is meant to mean becon

also, for a short time b4 random took the place of n00b, and in use sometimes still was the term "paul", this came from the optus net 5 server one night.

Baleeted? Talesin misspelled 'deleted' when he nuked a sig that was too big. Now it's custom to use baleeted when deleting a sig that violates a rule.

    There's two more.

First, some stupid guy who thought he was a gangsta or something came in and asked for a knife with a silencer, laser, flashlight, etc. on it. It spawned a lot of spam and hate, but it was funny as hell.

And we can't forget about the snail that can put the hive on his back and move around. Believe it or not the person that came up with tha idea was serious .
