for school? for fun?
I've played the clarinet for seven years, the piano for four years, and I did play the trumpet for a little while (kills the lips for noobs). High school marching band is fun, we got to play at Wango Tango too and all.
How 'bout you?
Edit: What the...could've sworn was in Off-Topic, sry bout that.

Hm. I played the piano for couple years way back when and then tried the flute out in HS band. Eventually quit both because I hated it.

I used to play violin several years back for a number of orchestras and i was in music school.

I've played violin, viola, cello, double bass, piano, guitar, bass guitar and drums. All i use these days is a computer and a lovely Roland XV-5050.

I played piano for a year and a half and then said it was 2 years so I could start drums in 5th grade. I started the snare drum in said grade and then played in concert band all the way through my freshman year of high school. Seventh grade year I got my drum set for Christmas, the one I still play now almost 8 full years later. Freshman year I also started marching band and played bass drum my first year (#4) and snare the remaining 3 years. I was drumline section leader my last two years. I then auditioned for the University of Nebraska drumline and by some random chance made cymbals my freshman year of college and now am in my third year. Last year I auditioned for the Dubuque Colts cymbal line, the best in DCI, but wasn't quite good enough (for anyone who thinks cymbals is just fun and games, I dare you to watch a video of these guys playing ). I've tried out for tenors the last 2 years here at UNL and both years been #5 out of 4 taken. Sadly. Third time should be the charm, since this year there's no one left to come back for a surprise 6th year at the beginning of fall camp. Considering I'd never even played tenors in an organized setting until 4 months before I tried out my sophomore year, though, I'm very pleased for coming as far as I have and holding my own this well in such a strong collegiate line. We just got all-new drums this year... tenors are 6-drum sets now. Can't wait to get a chance to play on those next year.

I also play drums for a really crappy 3-piece punk band.

I played Baritone/Euphonium in grade school for 7 years, and I've managed to pick up a nice Trumpet at a decent price that I play on every now and then.

My wife plays Piano and tenor sax.

I played the Trumpet for school bands up until a couple years ago.

I also know how to play the piano/keyboard, although nothing spectacular.

    Musical Resume... ^_^

Well, I am fluent in the tuba, bass trombone, and euphonium. However, I do have the touch of the muses and can play a wide selection of instruments, like the trumpet, piano, drums, tamborine, and such.

I play saxophone (alto & soprano). I also have a clarinet (don't play it very often). When I was young I took piano lessons, but I hated them so no more piano. instead I've become very serious on the saxophone. if any of you guys are familiar with the literature, I'm currently doing the Ibert concertino de camera, which is like the "premiere" saxophone piece as I am told

I missed all-state somehow, I got a perfect score on my audition but they gave it to a kid 1 year older than me D: so now I am playing all county with kids from my own school...

btw: topic starter, was it really hard to pick up trumpet after playing a woodwind instrument? its hard for me... but it was funny, I picked up a friend's trumpet one day and the first note I played was a high G... he was surprised

I played the Alto Sax for about 3 years in middle school (grades 6-8) and then when I got to high school I didn't want to be in the marching band so I quit....haven't played it since, need to sell it.

Now, all I play is an empty beer bottle (or semi empty)

I played piano for about 4 years. I hated my teacher. So I picked up the trumpet, and played in a Concert type band for 4 years, 4 years in a Jazz Combo, and a year in an orchestra. It's too bad I haven't played it in a while, I had fun preforming..

I play the vocal chords, more popularly known as singing, when I'm in the mood. And I'm in the mood quite often. I should join a choir or something. Or a band.

Come to think about it, I also beat a mean tambourine. I should try combining the two for singing tambourine ownage. XD

i learned classical piano, though i wish i was better at jazz..

also, but to a lesser degree, guitar and *recorder* woot..

lately im much more into 'playing with' soft synths and sequencers [phear my FLstudio MIDI setup] than guitar or anything, allthough my keyboard is still rigged up..

its just a shame i have no original ideas
