<div class="IPBDescription">hrm ?</div> Ive heard that you can have your own custom icons next to your name... is this true.. if so, how do you get them, and how do you make your own...

also i was just wondering, since im lazy to search at the moment... how do you become a vet. :o... i know its probably posted somewhere, but im just too tired to look, let alone write this...

In NS 3.0, last I knew, the option to have a custom icon can be set by the server. The icon is entirely set by the server, you cannot chose your own, to my knowledge.

In NS 2.01, the only icons you can use are ones stored in NS, such as developer, vet, playtester, contributor, guide, server op and beta server op. However, the only way to get the icons without being in the "official list" is to use a server modification.

The option to have your own personal icon you have from server-to-server is not possible. However, some 'gaming communities' have their clients over-write the .tga files which the icons use with their own, giving them the effect of having a custom icon.

so if i create a clan, and join cal-ns, and actually participate in cal-ns.. we can get vet ?

Active - scrim 4 times a week, plus matches (or that's the way I understood it)

That would be a really nice feature actually, being able to upload your own icons.

At nsarmslab.com we use icons for reserved slots and such, and custom icons would be more convient and respectful to the rightful owners of the current icons.

Yes.

But I'm pretty sure all thats required is that you actively scrim. You don't have to join a league. The purpose of the new vet program is not only to get a larger playtesting poplulation, but also to help the clan scene grow. Get atleast 6 guys, hop on #findnsscrim on gamesnet, and start looking for scrims. Its pretty tough to break in, but just keep at it.
