and it's NOT like AvP in any way
Please don't compare us to other mods\games, we may be similar but we're no identicle, ripping them off or having almost the same gameplay.
P.S. Don't take this as an insult of any kind, I'm saying this in a pleasent voice and I wish you the best of luck in becoming a good regular hear. Same goes for SM. Right SmokeMasta?!?
I've playtested NS.
Same? No.
NS is to a large extent an FPS.
Both have humans and aliens.
An F14 has wings and flies through the sky.
A Ladybird has wings and flies through the sky.
Read the FAQ.
Here's another question, straight from the FAQ:
Question: This game looks like a clone of that awesome movie, Aliens. It also looks a lot like the game Aliens vs. Predator.
Answer:That's not a question.
Some folks think we are copying the movie called Aliens. I think the dev team would be lying if any of them said that they didn't like the movie, or that it didn't influence them in any way. Aliens was perhaps the most influential sci-fi movie ever made. Like a lot of people our age, we're huge Aliens fans. We've been inspired by the movie's visuals and drama, but Natural Selection has nothing to do with those aliens, Vasquez, or LV-426. Our aliens don't look at all like the ones in Aliens, they don't have acid for blood, etc. Natural Selection fits into the "aliens vs. humans" genre as does Event Horizon and Starcraft. We chose to use familiar subject matter then innovate in the gameplay. The fact that the setting is familiar to people increases the appeal and means more people to play with!
For some reason, a lot of comparisons are made to the excellent Aliens vs. Predator, even though that was primarily a scary single-player first-person-shooter and we're a multiplayer-only first-person strategy game. You can play as an alien, but that's where the similarities with AvP end.

In short, please go read the FAQs... you'll answer a lot of your questions, and probably get yourself even more excited about NS. It's a pleasant side-effect we like to call "Flayritis," after Flayra (the NS team leader and lesser God).
I thought a ladybird just stood around singing on the Benny Hill show?
Secondly, as stated earlier and in the faq(s), AVP and AVP2 certainly had an influence on NS, but thats like saying birds had an influence on scientists wantiong to make a flying machine. Ns shares the "Marine vs. Aliens" concept with AVP, but thats about as far as it goes. NS is an RTS, one player even gets a commander view, a la Starcraft. But you'll understand better when you read the faqs/ check out the readyroom.
