Unreal 2 Expanded Multi-player Demo
<div class="IPBDescription">It's now released.</div> For those who don't know, Unreal 2 XMP is a team-based game which is somewhat like Cap the flag with 4 flags instead of Two, also theirs a catch, you -must- gain energy sources and deploy points, as well as work as a team to win in most cases.

Well, let's see...
<li>The plot was shallow.
<li>The dialogues were clich?d.
<li>The level design, while partitially interesting, didn't exploit the possibilities of the engine in any way.
<li>Features such as the 'base building' were sloppily implemented into the gameflow.
<li>The characters were bland.
That's what I can name off the top of my head. I can go back, play through the game, and give you a more detailed list later-on, if you wish.

It's not all bad; only around 90% of the game is of Satan's craft.
+ Luscious graphics
+ Short, so the suffering doesn't last too long.
- Cliched, ultimately predictable story.
- Bland, uninspired Quake-level gameplay with repetive blasting and no real feeling of purpose.
- Atrocious A.I. makes it seem like you're fighting pathetic mannequins. Follows the appaling design rule of "For harder difficulty levels, make the enemies have 100% accuracy and see round corners!"
- 'Feel' of the engine just doesn't seem solid: enemies seem to skate and slid as if on ice, when you hit them there's no sense of impact.
Need I go on?

I can't agree. The day that a cigar-chomping mechanic and a heroine with augmented breasts become uncliched, believeable characters is the day hell freezes over.
Since when were a collection of pistols, a shotgun, an assault rifle, a grenade launcher and a rocket launcher considered original weapons? The only original weapon I can think of is the Spider Gun, but you can discount that because it's one dross weapon.
Being able to explore your ship is a moot point; in the cut scenes it looks like a behemoth of a craft, yet in-game it's a series of tiny rooms interconnected which infuriates at every turn: you simply can't fit through properly.
<i>And</i>, finally, if you didn't see the plot twists coming then you, sir, have been living under a rock!

+ You were able to roam around the ship and talk to your crew.
+ Fair voice acting.

What I hated about U2:
- Crappy Storyline ("OMG OMG WE GOTTA GET TEH ARTIFAKTZ!!!!")

- Too Bleeping Short (I beat it the same day I bought it... -.-)

- Needed more enemy variety, not just variations of the same enemy...

2: Netcode Issues: Omg. Every server has 400 + ping and you cant even move without it stuttering (I tried like 15 different servers)

4: No Sound for shotgun: Maybe just me but thats pretty sad.

1) Rocket launcher wasn't made for sniping, and hold 2nd fire while aiming to lock on.
2) Theres nothing wrong with the net code, it's the servers since throughout the beta, most people pinged below 100.
3) Lag based.
4) A small bug that happens when you try to fire it off too fast.
5) It's there to enforce teamwork so you don't have someone who drives into the enemy base and just switches positions and blows everything away.
Seriously though, if this is the way the Unreal SP Franchise is going, I'm expecting U3 to have amazing graphics but no interaction at all... it's called 'a film' ><
XMP on the other hand looks like it might be fun, I'm not in the beta though so I only know about it. Those models though are... ewww ^^;

That game reminds me of TFC, cross with a little Tribes. (you know, that mode where you capture 4 flags to win?)
That game needs some tweakage, like the sniper rifle. I can't pull headshots, and it ALWAYS takes 2 shots to kill. Not to mention I accedentally decimated my entire team from time to time. The whole Team Energy thing is really annoying.
Other than that, I think the game is okay, it just needs some fixin. Although it would be cool if capturing certain artifacts granted special effects.

The reason the browser shows lag is because the master server is under a lot of stress and shows pings a bit higher. Try The Factory, it's probally the best server there.
We tried to talk the devs into giving the sniper rifle a 1 shot kill to the head but no dice. :/ You get extra points for getting a headshot on the person anyway.
Ya, with the spawnpoints being open, it isn't a good idea to have 1 hit kill headshots.
It's a 2 shot kill, everything else takes a while to kill, trust me in XMP the sniper rifle is fine. It's mainly good to defend with it though. The shocklance is nice for the ranger to, it's for anti-armor though.
