Help The New Server Admin!

<div class="IPBDescription">Need help understanding the Basics...</div> I just started a server based in Tampa, Florida(24.92.182.227:27015) and had a few questions:

1) What are all the common Rcon commands for NS?
2) Are there any recommended ways of increasing the number of people on the server?
3) How do you put the rules/MOTD in the console when a client connects?

1. check you server.cfg alot of them are in there.
2. get a better computer and/or connection
3. edit the motd.txt file.

best tip from me would be:

search for yourself O.o

i started by installind adminmod metamod and whatever on my local lan server and just tested and tried out how it worked...

in my oppinion it is not of much use if we just tell you how to do what, you have to understand it yourself and gget practical with how things work

google is your friend, there are plenty of lists out there which list MANY cvars and options.

if you still got a problem or you are stuck on a problem, feel free to ask, but remember you should be able to solve the most problems yourself..

1. There are several lists, google for <b>hlds server cmd cvar</b> > this came up for me and seems quite good <a href='http://server.counter-strike.net/server.php?cmd=cmdall' target='_blank'>http://server.counter-strike.net/server.php?cmd=cmdall</a>. It's for CS but the base server is nearly the same. There is a stickied topic here with the NS specific ones.
2. Admin the server well, make people feel welcome and they come back. Low ping is important as well. Consgreet and website/forums helps but it takes time.
3. MOTD.txt is currently limited to very short messages or it will crash your server - and it doesn't appear in console. When steam NS comes along this will change but until then use a consgreet script from adminmod.

oooh oooh oooh! the only ones I know are:

admin_slay <name>
admin_kick
admin_ban

BWAHAHAHHAHAHA, fear the abusive admin! (no wonder I'm only admin on one server....)

Thnx for the help guys..btw Asal we aren't running admin mod. Is there a way to slay people using rcon?

ok one more thing can you recomended some MetaMod plugins? We are already running PhaseEQ,Lerklift,Unstuck(can't live without it), and Armory Heal.

by far the most useful metamod plugin is either adminmod or from what I hear amx. You're choice but other than unstuck its about the only essential plugin.

I would say install AMX - its not as easy to get started with, but it is a lot more powerful, IMO
If you do chose AMX, goto <a href='http://modns.org' target='_blank'>modns.org</a> and click on the AMX plugins link for a bunch of AMX plugins
