I honestly didn't/don't like Trigun though. Its just ... blah ...
I know some people love it, for some ... reason ... but I just cant stand it.
I'm sitting there, expecting wonderfull things from this series. I've heard so much about it, so I start the first episode. The opening was great. I though 'Hell yea!', it seemed perfect. 5 minutes into the show, I just flat out turned it off.
I don't like how 'cute' it is. All his little faces and ####. I don't care what reason they're in the series, it looks like crap. I thought it was going to be something kinda serious and hardcore, something like Bebop, full of style.
Instead I'm watching Pokemon with guns or something ...

I highly recommend Escaflowne; the direction, animation, and score are *flawless*. Other than that - Evangelion, Princess Mononoke, and Armitage III (you can get the dubbed version at Blockbuster - it's surprisingly good).

ok, as for Trigun, here is the deal, it is a comedy, however Anime comedys are very rarly as shalow as American ones are (there are a few that are simply comedy and nothing else) those of you have watch Trigun, or Nadescio all the way through understand what I am saying, Trigun has some of the best char development in any naime I have seen (It rivals bepop in that factor) again however at the core it is a comdey, thus why it is so light harted through out the first 10 or so Eps.
If you are looking for dark and grim go watch Eva or Grave of the Fireflies (amazingly well done and amazingly DEPRESING) However if you want to not feel like suicide after you finish try Trigun or nadescio and if you are an american who gets all of his anime from Cartoon Network, and just want fighting, stick to DBZ (though there are of course better fights in most other animes)
Movies: Rurouni kenshin Ovas (they rock, and they explain the whole past of kenshin) Patlabor movie Knocking the heavens door (that movie was cool also)

I was waiting for someone to mention Kenshin. I esspecially like the OAV/OVA (you get the point) series. The movie kinda sucked after seing the OVAs, as the art of the movie (I believe it was called Samourai X) was the same as the series.
I have Ghost in the Shell on dvd and I like that one. Trigun: I thought it was a great series, esspecially nearing the end when blue-something appears. I'm currently downloading vampire hunter D, it looks quite dark... and /me lieks
Blue submarine #6 should be interesting as well, I had it, but it was japanese only, so I've gotten rid of it.

ok, as for X being more disturbing then Kite, lol go get the un edited version of kite, more needles violence and ahh the wonders of Pedafelia (PLS FN NOTE SARCHASM) Kite was one of those animes that was IMPROVED by the american butchering of it (removes exes random violence and pedafelia) any way kite just sucked (if you want violence go watch Blood the last vampire, atleast that is fn cool)
I also want to watch Vandred 2nd season (hehe, I love being at college, 100Mb D/Ls ;D)
oh well, another movie that just blows: SIN (yes the same as the Video game) just a gory and stupid as Kite (not worth a watcH)

Now when it comes to manga I've only read GiTS but that was great funny and thoughtful (one of the funniest bits is when Batou is standing in the middle of a field with a rocket launcher under one arm and a Machine gun under the other and worrying that there is no firefight!) I'm now considering if I should get all six volumes of Akira (but that would hurt my bank balance)
I like animation in general, I don't consider myself an anime fan although I did enjoy Princess Mononoke and the Escaflowne series. Most of the anime's I've seen are barely coherant.
I've seen "X" before, it was literally the biggest piece of garbage I've ever suffered through.
