You guys......
man... every time i look at those screenshots of the maps.. over and over again... every time i look at them, i am just blown away. i cannot believe how good they are. i look at this map... wooooooooooow. i look at another map.. *drooooool* i look at my maps.. wholy crap that sucks. the way you guys map... just incredable. i'm not trying to suck up or anything, this is truely my opinion of these maps. i have never seen anything better. words cannot truely express what i feel when i look at these maps. my only hope is that someday i could produce something that could only be called a fraction of the skill of your maps. i take my hat off for you.

NS has got some HUGE mapping talent outside the dev team. I personally think that RR should release a 'Forum Pack' of all the Forumer's maps that would become standard for NSF member servers.

Bel, you have a good philosophy that a few of us share. We look at our own maps and see that they're shaz, and look at others with complete awe. Even though people will praise your map. Feeling bad about your own map isn't a bad thing, as I think Widow just sucks, but others think its a really great map. Bah.

Fellow Kenshin: (:D) We gotta accept that there´s a lot, and i mean a lot of talent in every person, the problem is that most of the new mappers give up before they learn all the things they must learn to make a complete map with details, just because they dont read tutorials or get somebody to teach em.
All of you, newmappers stick to your maps and keep making more and more, check other maps, look architectures, when you play other sci fi games, check the architecture, the lighting of them (lighting is very important in the mood of the maps). And most of all.... GET ADDICTED TO MAPPING and never give up.

I think we need to thank the dev team in first way that all those levels look so incredible , they made those excellent, moody, atmospheric textures and they're supporting us mappers great I think

yes. i've been mapping for a while on and off now. i still think mine's crap (even though people like Zazi mensioned would say it's good). i get high r speeds and don't know how to do lots of things, but i still think its fun. what i really need is some one to come help me in person. that's how you learn it. oh well, maybe i'll meet a master mapper at school. So, fellow Himura Battousai, i will not let the sword fall from my hands!! we should have a chat about that series some time...

I'd have to agree with Belgarion, I've been looking through these forums for some time now, just amazed at all the detail and effects NS and the mappers have created. I finally convinced myself to start a NS map. I'd say I'm average to a bit advanced at mapping, well see.

Indeed there is a vast well of talent here at NS. Being almost purely DoD and loving some of the works that come from that camp I am thoroughly impressed by some of the works coming out.

I have to say a lot of the mapping going on looks very impressive and has inspired me to have a go. I'm totally new to mapping myself (few days on Hammer, one very primitive UT DM map..), but even though NS looks tricky to map for it's where I've decided to start. In at the deep end and all that.

Besides, I really want to play with those funky particle systems.

I feel I'm learning a fair bit just through reading the tutorials and mucking around with the various tools, although I have a long way to go before I get anywhere near the standard of most of the NS maps..
Still getting my head around the r-speeds and trying to work out what is and isn't possible..

Some of the threads both here and at VERC have been very helpful..

btw, the HL engine really doesnt like wide open spaces does it?

Anyway, If I ever get anything half decent done, I'll try and post some screenies.

Guys, just remember; those guys have worked long and hard to get to that level. They weren't just born with the talent, they had to work at it. If you really want to do it, you can. You just have to put some real time and effort into it. Don't give up easily, just keep at it and you'll be amazed at the work you can accomplish.

Or you'll be like me and just hate what you create and gut it every couple weeks.

    But hey, if it works...

Seriously, though, Flay hit it right on the money.
