I call it the Trigger Marine.
This new marine role is called the Trigger Marine or TM for short. Bascially, this is for the bored or the player who likes challenges. Wanna find out whats a TM? Keep reading! NEVER try to be a TM if theres 5 or less marines in your team.
Bascially, a TM is a variation of the rambo except he specializes in other stuff.
At the start of the match, dun grab any gear or build any building, just head for a random hive which you like/hate. Whenever you hear footsteps or the sound of an alien, immediately crouch-walk to a corner or a good hiding place. You do not want to be hindered. If theres no hiding place or that the alien knows you are there, brace yourself for combat. Always kill yourself if you are parasited. Also tell your commander not to give you instructions, orders or any item at all. Being a TM, you only need to do one thing, and this one thing is EXTREMELY HARD to do, arrive at an active alien hive without getting detected.
I will be frank, the chances of you succeding is 1 out of 10.
As you arrive at the alien hive, it may or may not be active. Now, if it is inactive, help your commander lock it, and crouch at a corner in case any gorges appear.
If it is active, you can check for any eggs, or any chambers but please know this, you must do everything within 4 seconds as time is precious. After checking, if your commander insist on you helping him, then you may help him build a Phase Gate or something. If theres no orders, immediately unload all your bullets at the hive. As you did not take any ammo beforehand, you can at most, shoot for 8 seconds, even shorter if an alien detect you. If you have used up all your ammo, knife the hive all the way to your death.
What's the purpose? You may ask. Oh, it does 3 purpose of which the third one is the most important. 1)Alert your comm of the location of the active hive 2)Alert your comm of any chambers built 3)It sends a lot of the aliens running back to their hive fratically, thinking they just got seiged.
You must remember, before you enter the hive, you must check the scoresheet to see the number of aliens that are respawning or dead.
Oh did I say? I once killed an Onos egg at a very late stage of the game when I tried to be a TM.
It is pretty much common sense to say that you should kill any eggs you see along the way to the hive. You should also tell important stuff to your team such as when you hear an Onos or see a whole squad of aliens heading towards Marine Spawn.
As soon as you arrive within 50Ms of an alien hive, crouch-walk to the hive as cautiously as possible. DO NOT switch between your guns unless ABSOLUTELY neccessary. This Trigger Marine tactie may be used anything from start of the game to the endgame.
However, please know that there are certain times when you should listen to your commander. He may have a really important task for you and you may be the one for the job.
There was once when I was really near alien hive at the Shipping Tunnels near Ventiliation Hive of NS_Caged. I crouch-walk to a corner and 2 gorges, 3 Fades, 4 Skulks and an Onos actually passed by me WITHOUT SPOTTING ME. I immediately alerted my entire team of the impending danger and first thing I did, I charge to the hive and shot at the hive like I was a maniac. Guess what it did? It sent much of the aliens running back to the hive and giving my commander enough time to pass out HMGs to everyone on the team.
There was another time when my Marine Spawn was going down with some fades wrecking havoc. I attacked their hive and saved my base when 2 out of the 3 Fades returned to the hive while other marines ganged up on the one fade and killed it.
My favourite really was killing of the goddamned Onos egg. There was no way to confirm if it was Onos egg but I took their word for it.
Try out this tactie sometime if you really like challanges.
Notes : If you find that the aliens have got a Sensory Chamber, STOP being a Trigger Marine. Chances are, they have Scent of Fear.
Notes : Camping in an unactive hive and waiting for a Skulk to gestate into a Gorge and kill the egg is a viable tactie. It may vary though as sometimes, the alien may already be a Gorge. Also, there are times when multiple aliens are present. If such a situaiton arise, warn your commander immediately and seek advice from him or other experienced players.
Notes : When climbing down a ladder, press the crouch button while pressing Forward + Strafe Right/Left would allow you to climb down the ladder faster than normal while not making any sound at all.
Notes : Eggs, regardless of whatever species they are, have 200 Health and 100 Armor.
Notes : DO NOT take chances, do not try to humiliate the aliens by knifing their eggs. Just unload every bullet you got into the egg. Running up to an egg and knifing it to death may give the egg enough time to complete evolving or have other aliens arrive.

-106 res , the player you just caught leaves the server.
No real gore , no visible suffering , but that's the highest sadistic joy you can experience when playing video games.
I've lost count of how many times I've snuck into hives.
For maximum effect, have a friend come after you with mines once the armory is up, or get them from a PG. Once the mines are in place, sit back and wait for a gorge to come RT capping - and discover that they have been royally screwed from the word go.
Well see what happens hehe!
But mostly I go capture RT:s with other marines
But assuming the role of a TM can be very important. While others battle over a hive/double res, a single marine can be the key to victory.
And I noticed that Motion Tracking is your best friend when going TM
one thing i also like to do is: around 4 or 5 minute mark, if you know there´s a free hive, run there and hide. when the guy with 50 res comes to drop the hive, kill him when he´s gestating.
This is pointless- a half decent alien team should have sufficent scouting to prevent such events from happening.
A strat useful for pubing against newbies. Then again, if these aliens are that bad, you'll probably succeed in knifing the hive.
And you gotta love the "ignore your commander" advice.
Learn the game before attempting to tell others "good idea's to play with."
Don't mean to sound insulting if I do. Seriosly though, I can't say this is a viable stratigy at all in any way, shape, or form. It's basically encouraged ramboing with less focus on doing anything usefull and more on being some "573417|-| n|/\/j4" or whatever.
Btw, taunting as you lead is not "tough, hardboiled." It is retarded, and should only be done if you're owning the other team. Badly. No good reason to give your position and put other marines into danger.
This forum is funny. Amazing stuff you guys come up with.

Actually, your chances are 0 out of 10 unless you're facing a team that, once again, has no sense of teamwork or strategy.
This might be somewhat useful advice for playing on a bad server with with worse aliens.
If we go around telling everyone that their ideas rock and are totally origional and inspiering, we'd have a forum full of smart_bomb's.
This is nothing more than a "be a sneaky rambo" thread.
We've all ran out and killed some unsespecting egg before.
It's all luck if you make it or not. I wouldn't call luck a strategy.
But whatever. Lets continue with the posting of who's the "l33test steath n1nj4 r4mb0" stories.
"ONE TIME I RA N IN A HEIV AND NIFED 100) EGG SIT RCOKED LOLOLOLO" <------- constructive posting at it's best.
You're welcome.

Two of those three oni kills I mentioned were against experienced clanners.
The main problem I have with this strat is getting the comm's attention and letting him know where you are without using the right click menu. Especially since I don't have voice comm. When he finally noticed me there he was like "how did you get there?"
I also managed to get into position by the pipeline hive and about 5 skulks lept passed me before one noticed. Unfortunately the comm didn't notice my constant text requests for orders/support.
Still a fun thing to do
I have tried to be uber-sneaky to try to cap a few higher lifeforms as eggs though in pubs though. 99% of the time they end failure, but there's nothing like killing a fade egg as he's getting regen.
I think TM is worth tryin. If you dont like it just let it be...
As a matter of fact, I recommend you try it in a scrimm. You'll learn how useful it is there.
I added some extra notes and tips at the bottom of my original post.

It's even more priceless when you fail to kill it in time..

I wish I woulda snapped a screenie of it.
I also often hide in unbuilt hives, waiting for a gorge to come and then killing him after he drops the hive.
This is not on a newb server, i do this often on the OSS server.
Go to a hive that you can reach with your knife (I mean, get really close to it). Then get as close as possible and plant all the mines underneath you (can't put them on the hive itself). Then start knifing/shooting. When a skulk comes to kill you, he'll set off the mines! Not only will he be dead, but the hive will be at half health right off the bat! If you're lucky, they may even start looking around for seige cannons (what else could have caused such a large drop in Hive health?!?)
This also works to clear large clusters of DCs that will just heal themselves if you try to shoot them out (when if you can't get the mines close enough to the hive or if you're just worried that the cluster will heal it back up too quickly) A great way to waste the Kharaa's res, and its unlikely that they will build a cluster of DCs for the rest of the game!
