Dont chew me out, just confirm please :)
OK, I just read the Webbed: "NS on retail Day Of Defeat" post, so please dont chew me out for having to answer the same questions it was tring to clear up.

I am trying to run Natural Selection on Day Of Defeat, but get a flurry of errors such as:

"maxdistanceerror": Shows up in console while in-game.

screen distortion: When I move my charactor around in-game (doesnt happen in the team select room though???)

Failure to load sprites: Console tells me it fails to load around 20 file: sprites

Reliable Channel overflow: Its like I Lag out, but its instant, and i dont have to go through any lag time. I just get kicked from the server within about 5-20 seconds with an message saying:

"You have been disconnected from server...reason: Reliable Channel overflow"

Are all these errors related to Day Of Defeat??? Is their anything i can do to fix any of these? If you used to have these errors, please, let me know how you fixed them. What are my options on this? Please...let me know. Thanks Natural-Selection.org, you guys are the best

and also make sure in your "userconfig.cfg" file you dont have "exec userconfig.cfg"
    anywhere in there

    Get Steam.
That will problably fix all these problems, as ns will use the normal HL engine, and not a customized one

Id like to get Steam, but 250 megs + mdewd101's Internet Connection = No good.
I switched my Video over to Direct 3D. I actually Got about 5 minutes of Playing time in and i killed an Alien**! Joy! But then i got that damn Reliable Channel Overflow. Also:

Raptor: I dont even have a userconfig.cfg file :-(. I have a config.cfg though and it has that exec userconfig line. Should i delete that? Thanks for the help

keep the userconfig.cfg line there and make a new text file called "userconfig.cfg" and put this in it:

    alias "ex_maxerrordistance" ""

    then save it.

you dont need the 250 cs installer, just get the 15 mb rochochet installer, then update hl and youl lbe all set.

You don't even need the 15mb one. You just need the 500k one. That's the one I got and it works fine.

From my observations, I can only infer that DOD Retail is an earlier version of Steam's HL.

    download the ns steam beta

that fixes all of the problems in DOD if you just copy the folder over.

yea but with the richochet installer, you dont have to download the hl cache files, and this guy is proly on dialup which means the dl will be slow and the cache file might corrupt
