the film bears such a minimal resembalance to the comics I might be able to enjoy it as a film about another cat called garfield... but as something based off the comics? nuh-uh and you're right the cartoon series was ick =s

I've never liked Garfield, but this film looks especially terrible.

I thought the cartoon rocked, because it perfectly conveyed how I honestly thought Garfield acted. If he's so lazy, why's he so active in this? I wish they'd do the cartoon, except without the cheesy "Lets make everyone happy" bits.

I saw the advertisement poster in the theatre a few weeks ago, automatically didn't like the idea. They should just leave the comics alone and move on to other things. Anyone that hasn't read the comics will see the movie, and if they don't like it theres a good chance that they'll be discouraged from reading the comics.

Why can't they leave the classics.

There has been a severe lack of original movies lately, and it really pisses me off. *cough*disney*cough*. Youd think they could at least buy some ideas.

Lilo and Stitch is pretty unique...despite that it's about 2 years old now.

Comics were comedy genius, cartoons were funny, movie (well the trailer anyway) looks terrible. Maybe for a 12 yr old, but not for me.

hollywood has learned that it's much more profitable to rehash old ideas than to think of new ones from scratch... name recognition = instant ticket sales! even if the name is the only thing the new movie and old idea share, not style or character... (garfield, cat in the hat, scooby doo, etc...)

I'm going to quote Calculon from Futurama here:

"That was so bad I think you gave me cancer!"

What the HELL was that? This looks worse than Scooby Doo, and I didn't think that was possible!

Dear god this looks bad... like bad as House of the Dead... or worse...

Garfield never speaks! He only thinks. We hear his thoughts, we do not hear his speech. He only "speaks" when he yawns, meows, or screeches.

Personally, I'm a Garfield nut, it being a great part of my philosophy of life. So naturally, I'm very interested in this!

javert, whilst I too am a strong Garfield fan, have you seen the trailor? There's nothing Garfieldish about it at all.

Oh, yeah I saw they were making a Scooby Doo 2. An absolute travesty.

Speaking of Garfield. Does anyone remember the neighbor of Jon. He had a mustache and this is when Garfield was uber, ugly the originals before he got pooky the bear. I don't remember his name but I remember seeing some of them and I was just wondering what happened to him becuase he was a regular in there.

if they screw this up (which they appear to be well on their way to doing) i will show them the true purpose of claws, fangs and other naturally occuring sharp objects, such as fighters swordchucks (which are far too unintelligent to have come from anything resembling intelligent, or otherwise, life)

forgive me, i had to put a 8-bit theater reference into it ... don't ask, click ... it might ease the pain

That trailer's Garfield's voice hurts me in my brain. What happened to the nice voice of the guy who did the cartoons?
