The Network
No other network in the industry competes with ServerMatrix. We dare you to compare the quality of our network and carriers to those in the industry. We have joined six (6) different Tier one backbone providers together to form the best network infrastructure in the industry. If you want the lowest ping times, lowest latency, and best redundancy available, host with us. Our backbone border routers are Juniper M20's and our fully redundant switching layer comprises a certified six pack design of Cisco™ 6500 series switches. All customer access switches in the datacenter, and there are hundreds of them, are Cisco™ 2950 series switches designed for maximum performance and uptime availability. Our current backbone provider list running the BGP4 protocol is listed below.
Im not trying to show you up, but im looking at your prices and stuff.
For a mere $250/month you get.....
-a guest login to my slackware 9.0 box here at home
-the ability to run any server software you want, as long as it's natural selection.
-5 nights of uptime a week (no hosting on friday and saturday nights)
-Shared access to the amd k6-2 450MHz processor.
-Shared access to my home dsl for hosting purposes.
And as a special offer, if you mention this thread I'll give you a free slap to the face.
Limited time offer. Sign Up Now at www.google.com
Price: Equal to Celeron, Better than P4
Processors: XP is better than Celeron, and roughly equal to P4
Memory: Identical
HD: They are larger, but 30 GB for gameserving is overkill anyway The 50 GB extra in virtually all cases would go unused.
VLan: Fluff ... who cares
Bandwidth: Definate advantage in quantity, disadvantage in predictability. Their bandwidth is summed in and out, effectively leaving you with 500GB per direction. That equals about one and a half T1's. And God forbid a script kiddie gets into your system, or you are DOSed. That counts against your allocation. And you will get a bill. $50 for every 100 GB over your allotment. The Net Gamer NEVER hits you with an overage bill because our bandwidth is unmetered. Use as much as you like, you're invoice will never be more than $99.99 a month.
In the end the offers are similar. Customers need to select that with which they feel most comfortable.

For what he is offering, this is a really good Deal.
And no, I am in competition with [NG]Owner, I do not work for him/her, nor am I affiliated with him/her.

This is a wholebox not just a gameserver.

But no matter how you put it, I wouldn't take an MS box as a selling point. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
www.webhostingtalk.com and get away from all the greedy people out there trying to shoot you a deal. I know Server Matrix is extremely, popular.
NG you're lying straight to my face recomending AMD for gameservers and thus at the same time saying it's as good as P4. For a server system (gameservers) P4 is THE BEST! Secondly you don't need all that bandwidth for a gaming server, and you STILL didn't answer my question about RAM hosts last time you posted one of these threads.
Server Matrix, guys have good deals on WHT and offer great service. Set-Up costs are possibly the only con (vLAN is needed, not "who cares") to their great prices, however a Celly is not a cpu for a gameserver. On annother note, stop hijacking somebody elses thread, it just looks very unprofessional.

Please link to documents showing that P4's are definitively better (or even worse!) than AMD XPs in all server applications, or even just game servers. Or even just Half-Life servers! I would like to know why I shouldn't bother considering using AMD chips anymore.
You can also easily use a megabit and a half or more of bandwidth, especially if you run a higher player slot count, run more than one half-life server, or run a moderately popular web site on the same box.
Be aware that 500 gigabytes per month is a bit more than a T-1 (1.544 megabits per second) in constant usage, and therefore NG's tiers of bandwidth are not as absurdly large as you previously claimed.
It sure seems like I answered your question before. <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=8&t=52134&hl=' target='_blank'>Here is the link.</a> How is my response to your RAM question unclear?
The P4 vs XP argument is like the Windows Linux argument. You will be able to find experts to argue whatever case you want to make. If you don't like XP to the point that you would never run a gameserver off of it, fine, the offer is not for you. That doesn't mean that everyone will share your opinion, no matter how vehemently you express it.
The VLAN issue truly is moot. It doesn't accomplish anything relevent to hosting a gameserver. If you believe it does, please tell me. I've been wrong before, I figure I'll be wrong again sometime. Setting up VLANs is not outside of our ability, we just haven't been able to justify in our own minds the waste of IP address space to do it.
The primary difference between how the bandwidth limits are set is the ability to go beyond the allotment. With The Net Gamer, you will NEVER get an overage bill. EVER. Period. It's simply not possible. With those that enforce a GB transfer limit, you run the risk of going over your allotment, and receiving an overage bill. If you do, it can be costly, very costly. If you never go over your allotment, it's not an issue. Keep in mind that in most cases, the allotment is calculated by the sum of inbound and outbound traffic. That means someone with a grudge against you, or your server, or your clan, can create issues for you that could hit you in the wallet. Food for thought.
