First of all - Alliances. What are they good for. For one, you get no penalties (apart from standard tax) on transfers between alliance members. But thats not really what they are there for. You form alliances for one reason - to try and win the game. Unless you plan to attempt to win the game, alliances are pretty much for show - pointless. Who cares about a -ve transfer balance when you'll never make it over 470 anyway?
Which is why I'm wondering about the current TSA alliance. It cannot win - so why do we have it? To make us feel good, to give us a sense of community? Sure, but we definately cant win on the current system. It averages out pretty much all the members of TSAs' score. So when we keep inviting new members, we are just dragging ourselves down. Thats why TSA is one of the lower ranked alliances.
My suggestion is this - that next round we form two alliances rather than just one alliance. Call one TSAHA, and the other TSALA. Heavy Armour and Light Armour. Heavy Armour is for the more hardcore members, those that are willing to go all out and try to win. Light Armour is for those that want some alliance action, but arent particularly interested in being highly competitive.
Having a huge alliance such as we do now has its pro's and its conns. One is that if we do make it past 470 ahead of everyone else, it will be bloody hard to bring us down. The conns are that its going to be well nigh impossible to get everyone above 470. Over 35 people in TSA, whats the chances that all of them have what it takes to make it over? To make it over before TGD have the game in the bag already?
In short, the TSA as it stands now is not competitive. Thats what the alliance option is really there for in AW, to give people the option to group together to be competitive, to have a shot at winning the round. It cannot happen for TSA under the current system.
If you really want to do that, I think TSAHA and LA seem silly.
Just do: Natural Selection (NS) - alliance just for the general NS community Trans System Authority (TSA) - Alliance for those from the NS community who are trying to be competitive
I personally don't mind staying with one alliance though, win or not. Currently we have one of the largest alliances out there and I'm proud of that.
Well i have currently wiped out 2 enemies of 3(seems to be there was multi accounter, because Both the Guy Who attacked me and the another name gone Unkown). Sent 97 Destroyers for lvl 5 Starbase, i physics something like near 7 or 10. And This Is My Suggestion:
Trans System Industrial(TSI) - Alliance for general NS community, would be the guys who focus on economy and share it with the other part. Trans System Authority(TSA) - The Alliance for NS community what is trying to be competive, they get support from the TSI section(Economy), and would focus on building immense fleets. Trans System Command(TSC) - Would Be The Commanding Structure, focus on both economy and Ships, this is for Veterans who don't want to rely on the TSI part.
Yep, thats a good Idea. 2 Alliances is a better Idea. Someone in the current TSA has only 74 points..... I'm not doing great (160) points but thats cause i'm stalemated. I am a very good player but got stuck in a very tight situation. I can't do anything about it though now and as soon as I get my fleet up, I'll be doing some major points jumping!
Ok, im about done for, i am loosing pretty quick and due to my unfortunate location in the universe, most of you cant see me Im just gonna **** up my PP and sell them so I can donate some astrobucks to Chronos in the good fight against Mccenna or whatshisbutt. My question is tho, would a early resignation be a good tactical manuever for the TSA and to screw these players? Do my planets reset to empty when i resign, or do they stay with the same resources? any help?
I say we just take the top 10 from TSA this round to reform the alliance next round, the rest make another alliance, and then the top five from both will reform the main one in the third round.
I might actually get to finish in the top 100 this round.
