As for ns_mineshaft, that's another one I really like. They really need to get the bugs out of Refinery, though. More often than not, things you build there fail in spectacularly bizarre ways.
My only problem with Lost is that Cargo and Equilibrium (or is it Alpha?) are very close together. And pretty much whoever holds Temp Control has a 5 second walk to the other hive. Oh, and External Outlook is very hard to take back, darn elevator shaft <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
I still like it though, if you get 2 aggressive teams alot of fun can be had defending/attacking Temp Control.
The map isn't BAD. Don't misunderstand me. It's just dull. I think the architecture is awsome in some placed, but... I don't know... Perhaps I should play it more and take a closer look.
What is it anyways, by the way? A ship? A base on a planet?

If you're talking about ns_lost again, it's either a ship, or a space station. I'm not sure which, but I know it's one of the two. You can tell by going in that one hallway with the big windows where you can see that other hallway across the big gap. That's pretty cool. One of the prettier locations in NS, on par with Biodome for level of detail.
Somone said something about Nancy i just wanted to let you know it is being remade mostly from scratch, although they have a way get some of the code back. The thread where you can follow it is here
hope i did that right. Ok now onto my opinion lost is ok granted i don't see many rine wins but usually that can get chalked up to HORRIBLE commanding. I have won a couple of times on Lost. But i absolutly loath mineshaft, don't really know why though...
ns_mineshaft is pretty even as well, I think... although it is still a bit favourable to aliens. The biggest problem is the lack of open space - there is NONE on that level. Even so, if people dread playing a level which has a reputation for being one-sided, that is exactly why it is one-sided - people are scared and the comm is much less willing to think about attacking instead of defending.

And tram, because of the shape, is surprisingly easy to defend, despite the size. It is significantly cramped compared to other maps, but not so much that the 'rines can't compensate. I've seen several marine wins there, or at least I did before refinery got all buggy.
I hate any maps which have a lot of metal textures in them. A lot of the new maps seem like you are in a giant machine. I like maps like veil and ns_nothing.
Lost is one of my favorite maps to play. I enjoy the layout, of the map. However there are some places that i feel need work, but what map doesnt.
/edit Dead dan, maybe you didnt know but like most of the maps are space stations, or some base on a planet. A space station wont have organic life, unless its like Biodome on ns_origin.

Its funny ns_origin has drill machinery down the bottom of rine start but in ns_mineshaft has absolutely no mining machinery, i would really like to see a drill that was weldable and it would activate and open a backdoor just like satcomms one.
Well, there's drill access. From what I understand, the drill is that big tube sitcking through the wall at the back. But yeah, I don't think it's too much like a mining facility, either. It's just kind of a generic barracks thing. Plus mandatory sewer, because 90% of all level designers in the history of gaming have a fetish for those things.

so my opinion is on the border or insane.
I don't know why I just don't like that map

Every map has its hot spots and important areas, and Lost is no exception.
