What's The Deal With "turrents?"

I see this alot as a joke. That makes sense.

What doesn't make sense is that I also occasionally see people using this as though that's how the word was supposed to be spelled. Even more occasionally, from people who otherwise seem to have a fine grip on the English language.

Am I missing something here?

Apparently that's how they believe it's pronounced, so they spell it like that. I don't know why, but some people write "their" instead of "they're" or "there". Or any combination of those.

Back in the day when NS was not in existance, Flayra was born. Flayra grew up to become a young man, who had a power... A power to design a modification, a powerful modification for Half-Life that will turn us into mindless zombies. He called his Modification for Half-Life, "Natural Selection". In this Modification he designed these machines that would fire at these aliens he named the Kharaa, and he bestowed them the name "Turrents". Later it was changed to "Turrets".

At least that's what I think how it was created. Don't trust me however, I'm evil.

I know for a fact that some ppl still cant spell the word and post it the wrong way most likely not realizing that they're are spelling it worng, or rushing when they type.

I always make the

"Their"
"They're"
mistakes just because I always rush when I type.

People that cannot spell correctly just irritate me for some reason. It always makes them seem to be lacking so much intelligence. For me at least.
