3ds Max Noob Question

<div class="IPBDescription">And maybe a [mwip]</div> I finaly started to try learning 3DS modeling and have some problems I cant figure.
Right now my problem is aligning vertexes exactly on top of each other so that I can weld them together.

In milkshape you used ctrl+shift+z/x/y and apperantly you dont in 3DS and I cant find any buttons for it in the menus.
I cant even find the right buttons or commands to snap vertexes to the grid. ( Found it once but I forgot where )

so anyway.. if anyone understood what I was talking about and know how to do it... Your help would be really appreciated.

Cant post pics of the [mwip] yet because I want permission to show it from the author of the concept.     Use the COLLAPSE button in the MODIFY tab while in VERTEX EDITING mode.
    Select the 2 vertices you want to weld and hit the button.
    Then you can move the now singular vertice to where you want it.

    it's not...

    just take a look and you'll see why...

    the movie prop was loadet via a hidden revolver drum .. in the movie deckart reloading the gun with the also build in box magazine underbarell.. the box magazine is not working on that gun anymore.. its just for the kickass effect
