Well I did. And i think my feeble brain gets it. The computer Colonel guy wanted to create a form of digital censorship. He wanted to create a digital natural selection for information, something that already exists in printed information. His point was that so much garbage, trash, senseless, useless information is readily avalible to anyone. With printed information, the really stupid crap is eventually lost or thrown out. But with computers and the Internet, slander, random idiocy, lies, ect. stays indefinitly. I think hes actually on to something there. In all seriousness, do we really want or need **** like this http://www.weebls-stuff.com/toons/26/, floating around?

Metal Gear Solid 2 ended at the tanker. I dunno what crazy business you're talking about. :P
Metal Gear Solid 2 ended at the tanker. Yes, the tanker...
I don't get that it ended at the Tanker...
It ended at the tanker.
There was no second part. Metal gear = Snake.
if Snake isn't on the screen, its not a metal gear game. No questions.
or something like that...
it's a fun game with some interesting plot.
/me sneaks up behind DOOManiac and does the cool neck snap thing without alerting anyone

Ahh... ok.
It didn't end at the Tanker. That's all I'm saying.
The colonel dosen't want to. He's just a tool. A figment. During the entire Big-Shell episode you seem to be the good guy...However you were just a tool the entire time. For The patriots. They are 12 men who really rule the United States. "Ocelot" (I use quotes because he was just Liquid Snake all along) Works for the Patriots as like a lackey. Stomping out any rebellion before they get the chance. If you have any other questions PM me.
Ok....to your point. Would you rather put up with idiots yelling, and have total free speech, or complete Silence, and if you ever speak against anything your told to like you are shot.
Basically the tanker part was real, the "patriots" cooked up a logical followup story and used Raiden in a VR simulation. It was all in his head.
Think the worst ending of Silent Hill 1.
Isn't the twin snakes just the same thing as metal gear solid 1?
The shell incident was a simulation, but it wasn't a computer simulation. Everybody involved was taking part in it because they were meant to. The Patriots either pushed everybody into involvement through the situation (Peter Stillman), or had to coerce them into the simulation (Olga Gurlukovich). It should also be noted that the simulation was performed to develop a kernel for the S3 program, so that each person wouldn't have to undergo the simulation at the expense of many lives, including the president's, leaking of confidential information about the Patriots, and the unmasking of several military secret projects.

Yeah, but it has 2 snakes in it, so it must be twice as good. Obviously.
Whoa........ Messed up.....
I couldn't sleep for 2 days.
I think the Patriots are actually a big computer which has the conciousness of the 12 (or however many it was) members inserted into it so that they can rule the world forever. How did I come to this conclusion? I have no idea but it seems to make sense.
The thing that I found ironic (and quite clever actually) was that at the end, the final battle is set up by the patriots to decide who's creation is the best; Raiden, Solidus's creation, or Solidus, the patriot's creation. Ironically this means that Solidus is fighting for the patriots, and Raiden is fighting for Solidus.
The only parts I didn't really like were Vamp and the whole Liquid's arm thing; in the original metal gear solid the cyborg ninja was just about believeable, but Vamp can dodge bullets and run on water. Yep, that's realism right there. The fact that Liquid can apparently take over Ocelot/Shalashaska/whatever's arm also seems really stupid since it isn't even on the border of possibility, it's outright silly.
Yes I know, fun > realism, but taking over someone's body through their arm.... right....
No, seriously, you mean that the cool-o-scenes, such as Snake breaking the 'cuffs and running for glory at the end, were VR in Raiden's mind?
The game was a bit of a mess really; MGS 1 is superior in almost every way, and Twin Snakes will make it every way.

Fortune wasn't that bad because at least it was explained near the end. But Vamp, his just too the proverbial urine. I mean as soon as Vamp came along he peed on all the laws of physics and the storyline itself. I mean Solidus had his suit thing that "could" exist and was cool, Fortune had her SPOILER AHEAD Shield That bended bullets Thingy END OF SPOILER but Vamp what the hell type of explanation did we have for him? None, therefore as a character he takes the immersion of the player and rips it up. And that annoyed me.

Actually, the Colonel in MGS2 is actually a computer program. Its not the flesh and blood Roy Campbell who commanded Snake back in Zanzibar and Shadow Moses. Campbell really was Snake's buddy and only lied to Snake in MGS1 because of his fear of losing Meryl + his superiors wanting to recover Rex in one piece. Besides, with Snake not officially involved (the government didn't invite him to the tanker nor the plant) he wouldn't be needed to talk Snake into helping out.
The reason the computer program is fashioned after Campbell in MGS2 is because its a familiar person for Jack to associate with from Snake's case studies. Remember, Jack genuinely thought that this "Colonel" was Roy Campbell, as he mentioned him being friends with snake and the computer Colonel quickly denied it. Also note that not once in the entire course of the game do they actually name the "Colonel" as Roy Campbell by name, something they always did in the other Metal Gears. Its never stated even once that the "Colonel" is Roy Campbell, although having "Campbell" on his name tag did certainly suggest it (for confusion purposes I'm sure).
Also a little interesting trivia for the fellow Metal Gear nuts: The insertion method for Metal Gear Solid is the exact same that was used in the original Japanese/Europeon MSX (a computer system) release; Insertion via sub pin, and coming up the hanger. Insertion for Metal Gear Solid 2 for Raiden is a lot like Snake's insertion for Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (which never made it over here to the US, and no Snake's Revenge is not a Metal Gear game). Hideo Kojima, while a genius at gameplay, isn't the most original guy on earth. :)

Yes, and that's exactly why its going to be the best Metal Gear EVER (unless they really screw it up). We already know the story for that is great. :D
Psycho Mantis could have been the result of the large amount of Psychic testing that the Soviets so in a way he was believeable and Shamans have been seen to do odd things. But Vamp has no real basis or anything not even any expanation. So he is completely without basis which makes explaining everything he does impossible. At least a hint would have been nice....

Right.
Yes. Yes we do.
Am I the only one who remembers the bit of dialog between...Rose?....and Jack towards the end in which she reveals that the Patriots had been dead for a century?
Anyways, seeing as how nobody mentioned my point, I now wonder if I somehow imagined it.
