DAMN YOU AMAZON.CO.UK!
Let's cut to the chase: I've ordered 7 items off Amazon, pretty much all my Christmas merchandise, which I did on November 30th; plenty of time to get it delivered before Noel, or so I thought. On December 7th, 1 item is dispatched and I recieve it a little while later. Hey, the others will come soon, right?
Wrong. The estimated delivery date changed today from "Dec 13th - 20th" to "Dec 13th - Jan 5th"... needless to say I'm pretty gutted that in all liklehood, my presents will be few and far between on such a merry day

Has anyone else out there had similar problems?

EDIT: Just recieved an email saying that the Radeon 9600 Pro I ordered has been delayed, the other items which are available will probably be sent, yeah? Fingers crossed.

Just try to keep in mind that the Royal Mail are snowed under at the moment (Pun not intended) I only just got my RvB T-Shirt today and I got the DVD ages ago!

Ordering online when you need something by a specific date is always a bad idea, especially around Christmas time. All i'd recommend is that you beat the rush by ordering way earlier (early-mid November, for example) so you can guarentee that your stuff will be there in time.

They don't have guaranteed shipping on the UK one? Hmm. On the original US one, after a major mishap a few years ago, they started making sure that you would get your product on time or your money back and a few warning emails to the effect. I've bought about 30 items from them this christmas (a week ago), and all have already arrived without issue.

Nah, I appreciate that, but according to Amazon they haven't dispatched my goods yet so it's still out of the Royal Mail's hands.

Wow, I have never seen anything liek this with Amazon. Kinda surprising I figgured that all countries were sorta handeled the same way.

Hmm, does any one know how Amazon works out side of the US?
For here I understand that they basicaly have a bunch of warehouses all around the country, so they just send my order from the one near/in NYC....

    Wonder what hapened to them...

    Feb Nem? man, that sucks

Well last year I ordered a book 'Red Storm Rising' off amazon.co.uk at about 05:00 on the 24th of December with the hope that I would have it in the new year. I was suprised to find that the postman was knocking on my door with the very book I had ordered sometime between 07:00 and 08:00 I can't remember exactly on wait for it.....the 24th of December.

I'm not joking btw this really happened. To do this normally would probably break some sort of record but to do it on Christmas Eve is very impressive.

Problem is that amazons logistics outside the US just haven't the size of the .com version. If they run out of stock with a popular item, they can't send it out from another storage facility, they'll have to wait for restocking from the producers.

I'm still waiting for my christmas DVD package to be SHIPPED. I ordered it at the start of December.

I realise this now that it was a bad idea.

    Oh well, I'm easy.

Half the problem is that Amazon is growing fast in Countrys. I think they just got rushed by a large amount of people wantign Christmas stuff (Including Me, Ahem) I think really if your looking into doing Christmas ordering do it really, really early. (Like the End of November / Start of December) and you should get it nice and before Christmas

Well, it's not all woe. When I got a new job back in November I ordered some celebratory comic books from Amazon.com, and they had a couple of delays so I figured "no biggie - they can be Christmas presents for myself instead". Then a couple of weeks I got an email telling me they were being delayed til mid-February. Now, that would get them to me in time for them to be birthday presents, but since they wouldn't let me cancel my order to get them elsewhere I was pretty ****.

Then earlier this week the first one arrived, and the second came on Friday morning. I think they just kind of make these dates up or something. Probably just so you think Amazon are great because they got your things to you much earlier than expected, when in reality they're about a month late. ^^

Thing is Amazon.co.uk is one of the best ways to import stuff.

(Like my Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks a very good book)
