In 3.0 will it be like it was in the old versions where you would like evolve into onos then your res just shoots way up to like 100 almost instantly or is it like a slow drip thing or how is it going to work exactly?
Res overflow IS back in, yes. It works exactly like 1.04 overflow.. in that if you have 100 res (Uh, okay not EXACTLY like 1.04) and get one res, that res is added to the pool. Anyone who does NOT have one res instantly takes from said pool.
So let's say everyone on the team has 100 res, but no res towers. One goes gorge (10) sets a res tower (15), and waits. Since the res model is 1 res every 4 seconds divided by the number of aliens, he'd get about 1 res every 4 seconds until someone else used res.
If everyone has 100 res, and there's 100 res in the pool, then someone joins the game, that person will instantly gain anything they can from said pool. It's all simple, but I overcomplicated it.
It's great except for the fact that something about res is bugged and each alien gets massive res per tick now. Makes NS games rather difficult for marines. And people wonder why this version isn't public yet...
I thought res wasn't split up and divided anymore? I thought the res for aliens was rotated between each alien receiving res. I.E. 2 aliens and 1 rt. One alien gets 1 res in the first 4 seconds. The second gets 1 res in the second 4 second interval.
Oh cool, sounds like the res management is better, because it doesn't make sense to just have your res dissapear in the black void of space if you have 100.
Res overflow is in, but it will be pretty trivial in the post-1.04 res system. How often do you see multiple aliens capped out at 100 res for an extended period of time?

Had a game before 3.0c that had two people as onos the entire game (I sheeit you not, the ENTIRE game.. you know, as soon as they could onos, anyway.)
We won because our few res towers gave the gorgies massive res with those two oni overflowing. Woulda been insane to have RFK overflow.. they were like 200-6 or something by the end of the game. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I assumed that res overflow was removed to deal with the problem of players f4ing to throw res back in the pool... how has that been addressed, if at all?

I dont really like the way the overflow works, I find it gives an advantage to the kharaa, and no I am not talking about the current bug.
I guess I will have to wait to see what comes out of 3.0e

As i really have no idea and just using logic dont take me as any sort of credible source.

Taken from the changelog thread just do a search for overflow on Neomatrix's thread (in internet explorer edit then find).
