You say you don't want to have to know where to relocate, or what to do if they do something..... Well what other game are you going to play that you don't have to know the map? Cs you have to know even more of the map (there is less to those maps), and the same for most all fps maps. You suck at rts's and don't want to remember maps, the build order etc. so I guess you're just stupid or lazy (it's the honest truth, comon). I love rts's, they are all about strategy (also love chess and thinking type games) and learn the maps (it doesn't take much intelligence to get the maps down). I don't know what other game you can go play without these elements involved, maybe pong?
Edit: Oh yea, forgot to mention that these factors you don't like are the exact factors that make it NOT boring.

Most of the points he made are completely right:
Marines usually end up cowering in a room somewhere, not wanting to go outside of it because you KNOW there's 2-3 skulks waiting for you. Good Pub commanders are rare to find, and the good ones don't always last the whole game, forcing someone else into the seat to take over, and no matter how good they are, conflicting plans spell doom for the marine. You all know the rest of the points.
It seems to me that he's complaining about how... repeated NS feels. Walk down a corridoor, get taken out by a skulk from behind. Walk down a corridoor, look up at the skulk waiting above the door, obliterate it and get called a hax0r for seeing him there (note: You plainly saw the skulk run up to the door).
Basic fact is, games are repetative. All games are. There are only about 5-8 different situations in NS, you just change the location and numbers of players involved. 3 of the most common game endings:
Aliens take over the entire map yet can't make the final push into the marine base due partly to lack of teamwork, but also due to marines being able to build stuff despite having one res node. Aliens eventually win, but it's no fun spawning and being shot down by acid rocket, only to go back in the long spawn que and have it happen again.
Marines all rush out from their base and into the wrong hive, leaving just one base defender and the Comm to hold off a 7 skulk rush. gg.
8 Marines in HA advance on the hive with L3 everything and HMGS, yet still proceed to stop and build sieges because "We want to see how many we can get so it sounds loud". Just plain annoying.
So yeah, he has a point. A lot of people are leaving NS because quite simply, they've seen it all before.

You seemed to have played one game, then left You also seemed to loose that game as a marine You never played aliens You picked a horrible server if the marines were yelling at you because you couldnt comm Oh well, go have fun with CS (which is boring)

I once enjoyed CS's variety of weapons but now I find it intensely boring.. well, I can play it nowhere near as long as NS. It is fun to kill newbs tho, as opposed to having newbs on an NS server, which I agree is aggravating for both parties
perhaps we should both examine our motives more closely.
anyhow as alien there are people who can maintain orientation in their head; it may be you need practice or are just not one of them
I Find I like NS because not its shooter parts, but its stratedgy. Hell, Counterstrike and DoD are way better shooters then NS. They have more guns and cool physics. But that is not what NS is about. NS is about stratedgy and teamwork. Its ok if your not into that part of games, then NS Is not for you.
Personally NS is a perfect game for me. I used to be CAL-Inivite in DoD (well technically not cal-i, but UGL-invite, and i scrimed cal-i, We just started after cal season started). I tried NS for fun one day, and at first i didnt know what I was doing, but I learned the game. Once I learned the game, i found it very fun. It takes teamwork and strats. I never played a game where 1 player on the team couldn't make a difference, no matter how good.
I tried to go back to DoD just for fun, but I found it boring. I still am good, but the fact that there is no teamwork or strat, or people talking on the mics, made it boring for me. I guess thats just me.
So my point is. I dont care if you dont like NS, if teamwork and strat is less important then varity of guns and deathmatch style to you, then there are plenty of other games for you. I understand though. I think that the other posters should be a little nicer and just say to this guy , "have fun playing another game if NS is not the style of game for you"
Oops, I joined this discussion a bit late. But, would you rather see some stupid T and CT's with their AK's and Colts every round? Always that stupid dust map, always the same camping places. ZZzzzz

more then half of the clanners refuse to pub, several well known players that have just been placed in charge of the 3.0 vet teams have also been known to never pub ....
i know if it werent for clan play i wouldnt even be playing this game...
ns:c could change that but i dbout it...
that guy had one good point id like to agree with the whole "aliens simply bite you" idea i think the day we got rid of alien projectile weaponry we turned this game stale.... i perfer 1.04 fire fights to anything 2.0 has offered
as much as I dont want to agree... I have to. a Game that is geared too much towards Clan play cannot stay popular. The majority of players are just public players who wanna join a server and have a good time. I never did like Clans much myself. It reminds me too much of the kind of people who invented speedball... which is, for those who dont know, a version of paintball with all the fun sucked out, lacking any element or resemblance of actual combat (c'mon... inflatable plastic obstacles? No thanks.)
I can understand what your talking about mate but I find NS to be so totally different to so many games and thats what keeps me coming back.
Hopefully 3.0 and combat will remedy a few of those issues you brought up especially first chamber choices as sc's are sounding a bit better now.
Maybe NS is just not your thing try something else and see how long that lasts before you get bored.
Perhaps you have A.D.D and didnt know??
While i won't put you down for your opinion, i feel that you've not explored the game enough.
I mean sure, you feel it's boring, that's your decision, but your inexperience commanding and your apparent lack of all alien experience makes me think that you've really not played the game for long enough to actually learn all of it's nuances. I find playing aliens far more satisfying than playing marines, but when i play marines i know i'm just a puppet under the commander's control, and it can get pretty tedious camping out certain rooms or waypoints waiting for the comm to send you elsewhere. The alien team is far more free, you define your own strategies and lay down your own ambushes. Each player plays a commander and a grunt, and i find that a hell of a lot more fun.
And melee combat is far more entertaining than guns, to me, since i'm a pretty lousy shot with anything but a shotgun, but i can be pretty devastating at times as a lone skulk.
I will, briefly, point out that all other mods are also "Shoot with X until Y dies", except they don't have a command mode, two completly diffrent teams, and a tech tree.
I find it amusing that this guy signed up to the forums purely to tell us he doesn't like the game. From the looks of it he hasn't returned and probably isn't even reading these responses.

I must say i would find this game very dull if i was not playing in a clan *btw for any of you not in a clan, get one soon cos it elevates NS play so much*
Public play is ok... but gets boring after a year of playing it. Flaming is not the right way to go about posting your displeasure tho.
1) learn to play the game you AIM yer bites YOU BHOP (w/o scripts of course ) 2) yea it takes time to get that stuff and when i comm and have like 1-2 rts i only give stuff to people i can trust with it and not to oridanary nub on the server. 3) go play cs cuz it must be more fun walking around a map and hoping not to die
