I must admit, that welder is a huge improvement over the old one. I also like the new light machine-gun model. I think the death messages are odd, but I'm sure this will be addressed before release. Eclipse looks better and better each time I see a new screenie.
Question: Last I checked, there was no time limit on webs. Is this still true?

Freemantle: Those death messages are echos from the console whilst running HL with developer on. As you see 'Fam killed Comprox with dispenser' in TFC, or 'Fam killed Comprox with c4' in CS.
They are not normally visible, thats all to do with Flayra and his special testing set up. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
Or Comprox (claw picture) Fam and stuff like the will be in soon, not the usual little skull in the top right <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
And webs do have a limit in areas, but high enough so you can place lots to be useful.
Of course the new welder is an 'improvment' over the old one, considering the old one was a completely placeholder one (the displacer gun from Op4, if I'm not mistaken, was used as the welder placeholder) much like the AK from CS was used as a placeholder for the GL. <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->
Webs will remain where a builder alien places them for the duration of the round unless marines weld them (thus destroying them) or marines run into them (thus becoming webbed). When you become webbed, it lasts for a short while, which is to say they last long enough for you to end up dead if there's an alien around.
those screenies are definetly cool... looks awesome, I really like the welder, it looks... different <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
I was looking at the screen shots of the power armour and a question came to mind. When the marine has power armour on can he hide in shadows at all or will he just sit there glowing for all the world to see?
OMG! great pics! i love the dead bodies <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
I... can't belive... I missed this until now. Anyways they look great, and, I guess you guys <i>are</i> still keeping the power armour(or at least I hope <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> )
w0w great screenies but i have just a little favor...well see u get all these great pics from when ur dead and ur usually taking pics of marines...(NO PROBLEM THERE KEEP IT UP) but as an alien fan...can we have some alien screenies! =) no matter from what view either first player or spectator mode plz =) and are u using a software graphic mode?
Prophecy: I _think_ that they are trying to keep the alien huds a bit of a secret. Not 100% positive but I remember a PT saying something along those lines ages ago.
Killing with healspray? Is that like TFC's medpack (unlikely) or just direct damage. What kind of range does it have? Can it repair buildings and aliens or just one of them?
Nope, we're not keeping the alien HUD a secret, I just didn't happen to snap any pics of them when I took these. These shots were taken in OpenGL at 1024x768, then resized to 800x600.

Moo Moo, Power armor DOES make you more visible. I'll never forget an instance where I hid around behind a support, defending a hive. A fade walked right around the corner and tore me to shreds. "Humb, its hard to hide when you have power armor on". Ah . . memories.

It's a piece of heavy machinery, and for what the welder accomplishes in-game (as you said, very quickly), I'm comfortable representing it with a two handed item. If we had done a one-handed version of it, we probably would have been accused of ripping off the Aliens torch, so I'd rather go the 'bloated alligator tail' route. At least it's unique.

I didn't say the model was <i>bad</i>! I said it just looked funny. But I figure it's because it's heavy machinery and gets the job done fast, as um... that guy clarified for me... I think. Well, I suppose I've been called much worse things than 'that guy' . . . <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->
Anyhow, we've never actually posted a pic of the thing-- I know Msr. Evil has one that I shipped to him, which I believe may be posted to alleviate our next pr drought. At any rate, hopefully when you see it from a couple of different angles, the size/design will make more sense.
I don't see what the big deal is, the welder looks great (even if it does slightly resemble a bloated aligator tail)When it comes down to it I would rather be playing NS with a bloated aligator tail than not playing ns for another week while monkeyboy changes it.
