I can heard myself walking around but it doesnt go away. I press Esc to show the Steam menu, but when I turn the menu off, I can see the level but only what it loaded while I was in the Steam menu area. This is usually ready room. Then I try to walk around agian but I only hear myself move and the screen starts to weird out. I cant stand THIS!!!!!!!!! DOes anyone know how to tranfer files over a network. My computer is sharing the internet with the computer that has NS working over the network. I dont have a DVD burner so I cant transfer the 2 gig Steam file. and make sure it's in the right forum. there is tech support.
transferring files over a network should be easy enough, especially under WindowsXP. just drop it into the "SharedDocs" folder. =P
if you're not using XP, or if you didn't use the Network Wizard, it's slightly more difficult.. but not by much.
just look up file sharing under whatever version of Windows you have on google.
as far as your steam problem, well I can't really help with that. but I can give you the corporate spiel: NS is not officially supported under Steam, as yet, so you can't expect it to work correctly. =P
3.0 will be 100% Steam compatible.
I hope this helps, but I can't be sure.
Rightclick the spots where the pictures should be, click "Show Pictures"
The problem with the black RR thingy:
I sometimes have the same problem, however, it only comes up when i am tabbed out while NS connects to a server (Steam AutoConnect)
Usually, a simple restart of NS should work.
If i was you, first thing I'd do:
Uninstall Steam completely
Erase all left over data
Download Steam from www.steampowered.com
Install Steam
Download Halflife
Start Halflife, then exit.
Download the Steam NS 2.0 Beta (link can be found somewhere in this forum)
Install it.
Then it should work.
Edit:
If you have WinXP, networking should be easy, just rightclick the folder you want to transfer, and select "share", then enable network sharing
If you dont have WinXP, well, that would take some time, and would not be easy to explain in a forum
