I mean if he is creating a company in order to develop the sereies i doubt he is going to comtinue modding other games. It also looks by the employment needs that not all of the current NS dev team is involved. My best would be a new game engine specific to the needs of NS rather than heavily modding another game.
I can only make guesses but that would be my best. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=1&t=58089' target='_blank'>Here are some good tidbits of information that you should see.</a>
That forum implies that it will be a game that will be totally stand alone. I have trouble imagining that. I think for the majority of the developement the team will make use of valves mod system to write ns2 and blance it. After will they release a finial version that will cost money. Since a stand alone version would basically just install the mod and source engine (asuming that it will be hl2) It would allow the developers to have access to cheap beta testing, get a crowd of people eager to play. Have a hard time beliving it will be a totally private beta and development when the dev team can make use of such a willing fan base of ther products.
Also creating an engine that could compare to the engines that are out now cost significanly more then accually creating a game for an exisiting engine. I dont think that Flay and Co are ready to have thier first game release an inhouse engine. Its a big step that would signifcantly increase the risk involved to the investors in UWE.
