I've just swapped from a Nvidia GF4 Ti4200 to a ATi 9800XT cleared all the detonator drivers and installed catalists 3.10's but now I can see sod all it's that dark <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> adjusting the gamma and britness cvars seems to do nothing and even the master brightness seems to reset when I get in game (I've taken both the 3d gamma right up and the desktop to the point where everything is whitewashed but it still goes back to the point where I need to run around with the flashlight on to see the bloody floor) can anyone help?

And no my monitor isn't on it's way out <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I know there needs to be safeguards to stop ppl from lighting the entire map up to the point where there are NO shaddows but this is absurd! <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

EDIT: just noticed this is in the wrong place, could a mod could move it to tech support plz?

    did you change the gamma in half-life or for you monitor?

    I've tried the gamma slider in HL, the cvars for gamma & brightness, and the ATi controll panel master gamma controlls.

    They all seem to go back to zero when NS loads

    Use PowerStrip to fix it, google for it.

    Try theese settings, it should be plenty bright but not whitewashed. It's the moniters fault if it cant handle it.

    Thanks guys.

    It's not the monitor, (crystal clear images and it's bright enough for everything else I play without adjustment) and while NS is loading the console image is bright and clear, but when I get into the ready room (just as the console wipes off) it drops to super dark. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I'll give powerstip a go, thanx again for the help <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    And this is how we derail threads, thanks for the example Maverick102 <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Anyway, make sure you've completely uninstalled you GeForce's video drivers THEN reinstall you ATi drivers. See if that helps.

    I did uninstall the drivers and used detonator destroyer after to make sure the only other way is to format <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Perhaps it's my ATi drivers, I might try omega3.10's when they come out.

    O.T. - No I'm not Red Rebel, Maverick <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Rebel - With powerstrip, you can assign global hotkeys to adjust the gamma/brightness/everything. I use it because NS screws up the brightness and it's too bright to comfortably play, so I just hit Alt-Shift-F1 to darken it, and Alt-Shift-F2 to reset to default when I exit the game. It's a lot more adjustable than the in-game stuff. I also used Powerstrip to overclock my video card. (GeForce 3 Ti 200, overclocked GPU speed to 400 MHz, and adjusted the RAM speed to match.)
