This wouldn't be so much of an issue if there was like a screening to get in.
However, parents can put their children here for ANY reason. While there are certainly children here who need it, there are also people who were placed here for equally idiotic reasons. For example, oen girl was placed in the institute because she got a boyfriend her parents didn't like. Therefore, the parents decided she was "out of control".

The real horror about the testimonials is that each one of them sounds exactly the same. "I was horrible before, but now I'm good. If it wasn't for this place, I would have been out on the streets." It's brainwashing.

If there were some sort of screening process, I wouldn't care. I think they should put in a screening process.

I mean look at the UK it costs a school £1000 to <b>EXPELL</b> a student, even if the little s*** went and blew up a science lab it would still cost £1000.
I mean thats immediatly wrong. If someone is being a constant pain in the backside and assulting fellow pupils and so you cannot expel them unless you pay. Its one of the reasons the college I attend is have behaviour problems in the lower years.
I would love to see a system where a head could walk up to an unrulely student and say "I do not want to see you in my school any more, we are shipping you out to Tranquility Bay"
But then again my school life was ruined by a lot of these types of people. At least in my year the school was able to Expell without fine.
if the parents send them there, for w/e reason it is theyre choice... whats that film? the one with katie holmes? where they have an operation which turns them into like mindless kids.. like good kids... i cant remember it :S

I thought it was ilegal to torture childeren even if your parents agree.
I have an enormous problem with authority. If i went there I doubt i would be able to restrain myself from cursing out the guards even if i tried. If my parents were to send me there I would most likely not be out for a VERY long time. Probabley stay there to 18.
Also this reminds me of an "outter limits" episode, it was the one where this family moves overnight to this neighborhood that is all perfect. But it turns out that the way they punish the kids who disobey is by putting them into a grinder and mking them into mulch... <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo--> really good episode.
That or people are too smart to be controlled and would rather face torture than be controlled or forcecd to change their views.
