100$ To Spend On Two Things..

A mouse and a headset... hmm
I need a new mouse, bad. My 15$ Logitech Optical isn't cutting it. I'm thinking about a MX700 or 500. I want something with teh buttons but still have a general mouse feel, and the 700 looks like it might be perfect. I can find that on eBay for ~40$ (refurbished, but that's good enough for me). So that leaves around 60$ for a decent headset, and I'm lost as to what would be good there.

I want something that has an above average mic (so that other people can fully understand me, not some 10$ mic bs) as well as good headphones. I have an Audigy in my PC, so if the headphones were able to take advantage of EAX, that'd be awesome but that's not something I have to have. I just need something decent for 60$, basically.

Suggestions?

well. I got 100$ too. Heres what I did. 1.)Took myself out for dinner 2.)bought a headset(only 20 bucks and its NICE) 3.)Donated to constellation($20), and I bought the Diablo 2 battlechest. Since all my diablo disks are borked and I like the game.

    I just got that one.

Most of the labtec ones are a little flimsy (so be careful with them) but otherwise they're also a good value. I had a $25 labtec mic-headset, but I busted a wire in it. It lasted me just beyond the warranty (1 year on that one).

Tip: Save your cash for a mx700 (Try this or this)

I'm not exactly sure on the headset. You don't want some crappy thing (like I got, sadly) that falls apart after a few weeks. Save your cash for a Sennheiser or Altec headset. They're the best.

    The MX700 is awesome, too.

I suggest you buy the cordless MX duo ( you can find one on newegg.com for about 76$ with shipping, comes in a couple of days). And, really, any headset above 30$ is just useless. I have this one , and it works fine.

Yeah, I can vouch that the headset Mojo pointed out is really good. Excellent sound quality, a very nice mike, and the headset is overall quite comfy and feels really sturdy. I highly recommend it, especially at that price.

The AHS 502 is the equivalent of the Audio .90. You usually get them at the same price, but the Altec Lansing one is better. Of course, if one is on discount, it's up to you if you want to save money or get better headphones. But overall I was deceived with anything Plantronics (very fragile and often had bad contacts which bust an ear, usually the right one)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I ended up grabbing the MX700 and some Sennheiser PX 200 headphones/headset. Hopefully they'll both work out well! Thanks ;D

Kinda ironic, I wanted a headset and a mouse for Xmas and I got the MX700 and that exact headset posted. I haven't tried the MX700 yet (got it a few hours ago and I won't install it til I get home), but the headset is the greatest thing ever...I swear I almost **** my pants when I put it on for the first time with 3 sieges in the hive and HMGs firing in the backround, if you're going from speakers to headset for the first time prepare to be amazed.

laff, for a headset I just walked into my nearest used video game store and plucked a no-name one off the shelf for $5. works lovely, volume control and all. IMO if you want good sound quality, buy expensive speakers; if you want a headset, get a $5 one. Though I was just on a plane and read about some lovely headphones for $500...

Awesome Pink. I'm actually going from a 450 watt stereo system to tiny headphones, but meh. Noise canceling for teh win.

As for 500$ headphones... those are for serious audiophiles with ears that are insane. I had (now they're blown =/) a pair of Sennheiser HD 497's and I swear to god, for 50$ it didn't get any better. They beat the heck out of my Logitech z560 speakers anyday, just because of the crisp and clear quality of sound.

ATM, I'm running a pair of Aiwa HP-X223 headphones, with a generic Labtech boom mic. The mic is good enough to pick up my voice when I'm commanding, and the headphones are seriously heavy-duty, with so much padding my family has to throw things at me to get my attention.

Oh, and when I want to blast a song, I've got a set of 2.1 Logitech 32 Watt speakers+subwoofer. Very nice sound quality when blasting Flight of the Valkyries on Christmas morning .
