How much different is the CPU usage for CO vs NS games? I would assume CO could run on a lower end server for the same number of players, since the number of entities should be lower. What would be the ideal CPU setup for a 6v6 combat server (running on Linux)?
As it's not out yet, nor is it finished, an answer really wouldn't be possible. Probably your only chance would be to ask joev (the developer who is running the Constellation/Vet servers, from what I understand) or any of the other developers this directly, but again, it's not officially finished. Supposedly the standard NS CPU was extremely high recently, but it's been fixed in a recent patch.
My guess would be combat would take less cpu than standard ns. Less entity count, of course, means less thinking for each entity, less collision detections to compute, and the likes.
