<div class="IPBDescription">if you uninstall Steam</div> I just got screwed when I uninstalled Steam - I was a bit **** and didn't take the proper precautions. Anyways, it deletes any HL exe files you have installed even if you don't specify for it to do so. Now I have no HL install and I lost the serial number long, long, long ago. Just a warning.

your serial is in the registry still, look it up

HKEY_CURRNET_USER -> Software -> Valve -> Half-Life -> Settings

Then look for the setting in the rite collumb that says Key. That is your CD Key. Hope it helps, and hope steam didn't get rid of that.

Also, if it's not there, look here, it's the same think, but in a diff place.

HKEY_USERS

then look for a folder thinget that starts with a "s" followed by a bunch of numbers

then continue looking from there in each folder like that Software -> Valve -> Half-Life -> Settings and try to find the Key again.

I don't know if that will help, but, that will search all users registry settings incase Steam DID erase your Key, which I don't know if it does. And I don't know if it did that it'd do it for all users of the computer.
