    You really should at least give the music a chance. If you feel its too loud, you can decrease the volume. (I decrease mine a little bit). It really adds TONS of atmosphere to the game, making it an even more enjoyable experience.

    Just give it an honest chance and if you then still don't like it, then feel free to turn it off.

    just take a look at the ns intro (which is, in my opinion, one of the nicest pieces of flash-art i've seen in a long time).
    If you take away the music (or sounds) it will be rather crappy.

    I think I must agree with ZeroPointNRG.
    Sounds ARE one of the most important things in a game.

    Is the music, er... jumpy (you <i>know</i> what I mean. Sudden noises to heighten fear or whatever) or is it nice and smooth (almost ambient)?

    It's funny to make a movie and put different types of music behind it, it will feel very different. A guy that gets hit by a truck with funny music is like he makes a blooper. Then with serious music on the background you think about how bad/dramatic the accident is.

    Man...listening to that Super Metroid mix just reminds me how well-done the music was.  The use of sound really added so much to the immersiveness of the game, which is a lot of why it's one of my favorite SNES games.  I literally got the chills listening to that MP3.  And let me tell you, you probably won't be disappointed if you're expecting something like that.

    While I forget who did the NS music, it's quite good (I've sworn I've heard him somewhere before...).  That being said, I've added some of mine own from various genres (Devil Went down to Geogria, Classical Gas, Gangster Paradise, the opening theme of NGE, etc).  So despite whatever your music tastes are, NS should play well to it.
