not all marines all all "ruddy and gruddy" as i can see your stereotyping Marines...

See my last post...perhaps because I'm not talking about real people, but videogame land, where everyone is given stereotypical images! It gets irritating when even after you explain yourself people still want to get in their flames/etc at you...please drop it and move on perhaps?

Anyways...it looks like a decent model, just not my taste.

the game you are talking about is called "extermination" for the ps2, one of the most cineatic games I have ever played. the graphics were clean but with an average speed from 45 fps it was really impressive. some new things were the distance sharpness (real virtuell camera), some nice wether effects and a really creepy environment. mjuch more thrilling than resident evil...
I dunno WHEN this screenshots were taken but "dennis" looked a lot different in the final game, he had shorter hair, a darker suit and the charakter of a real soldier.

Yes, i know tha game...i have it, i beat it, and i love it...hence tha request for a Dennis Riley model for NS......

anyways, tha version of Riley you're talking about, with tha black suit, and short hair was from tha japanese version of tha game which came out before tha american game...Deep Space (The developer of the game) made a few bug fixes, changed a couple of gameplay elements that didn't work so well in japanese release, and then finally modified tha look of Dennis, to make him look more american...they also changed tha uniforms of tha team......tha screenshots i posted are from tha american version...

bah Gravity...didn't you read tha first page?

i originally started this thread as a request for a NS playermodel based on Riley...::shrug:: it kinda turned into a flamewar consisting of bashing of riley, and stereotyping of US Marines.....so yeah....anyway...

to say something constructive:
this is like Denis appeared in the german version too, which is only a located version with only subtitles (the translation is one of the worst ever seen!)
I like the american version of denis better, although his old suit seem to be more detailed. the problem is:
the extermination models are still one of the most detailed in the ps2 world, with fully animated faces! but the dark suits killed all the nice details so extermination looks poor on the first view. but the game "invented" the infestation too: look the shots. when you first arrive in some areasthe seem t be clean, boring facility areas. but when you arive later, the mutation infested nearly all parts of the complex. I liked the realtime mutation of the contaminated soldiers, first one monter with an m4 attached to it, after steeping in a pool of water and giant with 2xm4... however...

its the same problem with all the models: ns doesnt support alternate models, only skins. so all marines will look like denis. shure, he is a handsome guy bt isnt this little boring?

actually, NS does support alternates....that's why there's a black and white model of marine.....so there could be 2 different USMC models from extermination...say maybe Dennis, and Gary?...or Dennis and Maddigan, or fellil(sp?) or roger..::shrug:: there are possiblilities...

anyways, you mean to tell me that in germany, you got tha original japanese version with badly translated subtitles?

and these days, there are more advanced models in tha PS2 world...Metal Gear Solid 2 is a good example....Final Fantasy 10 is also a good one....also Oni, and a few others...for it's time Extermination was pretty damned good...but if it was remade now, given how much developers know about tha hardware, and what it can do, Extermination would look a hell of a lot better..personally, i wish they'd make a sequel....near tha end of tha game Maddigan did promote Riley to commander of team red light....would be interesting to see more done with tha storyline....they never did mention whether or not tha other facility working on HO213 was destroyed or just sealed up....::shrug::

NS DOESNT SUPPORT ALTERNATE MODELS! this is what I said and this is a fact!
NS DOES SUPPORT ALTERNATE SKINS! this is what YOU mean!
cause the "black" marine is not a different model, its just a different skin, for other people: an OTHER texture!!!

and btw: shure, mgs2 has one of the most advanced ps2 engines. but what does it help if the whole game sucks? you cant follow the "story" with a clear mind, realism is not included in this game, have to bought seperately
