I don't want this to turn into a sympathy plea, so i'll make this simple.

How do I manage my time? I posted a while ago bout quitting ns to focus on schoolwork, but it's not helping much :\. Anyone have advice on moderating the things I love (gaming, browsing these forums, chatting etc) and my schoolwork? right now my grades look like someone got a uhm well I won't go into details :\.

i dont know if this is really good advice, but do as much homework in class as you can. meaning, as soon as you get it, begin it in school. but note that this will only work if youre good at learning when paying half attention to a lesson, the other half in you book. that way, you can go home and do whatever, and you already have it done.

then again, this depends on class scenarios, i.e. class agendas.

oh yea, and stuff like lunch, or b.s. classes later on in the day, use as hw times too. not for that day but for the stuff due the next day!

Advice: Don't ask for advice on forums.

All you'll get is cynical replies that state what should have been obvious to you.

Example: Having trouble managing time? Get off the computer

Don't turn on ya comp before doing your homework?

If i turn on my comp in the morning, i'm practicly doomed lol

Try and manage your times better. For example, for me, I just play games during Friday night, and on Saturdays, I watch TV ans hang out with my friends. The rest of the days I just do homework. If I don't have homework, I study. Of course, this is the day-to-day life of someone who is number 6 in class and has a GPA of 4.06 (dunno how I have this, seriously)

Try to keep something which influences you to study. Like, I want to go to MIT, so I have in front of my computer a huge paper with "You should be studying!!" and the MIT sticker underneath.

I think the only important question is whether you care enough about your schoolwork or not. The overachievers care so much about their schoolwork that they're not even tempted to not do it. The underachievers (like us) are unable to grasp the consequences of not doing homework, etc, so we often don't... it's a depressing concept, but maybe just try to get yourself a little scared of what will happen in the long run if you don't get your grades up... it hasn't worked for me yet, but it might work for you it's a sad fact that fear is the most powerful (or at least the most common) motivator in this world...

I hear that. It's a question of how much revision I can get in before 1pm, then my brain shuts off automatically and I have to go play for eight hours....

    As for

QUOTE

Can you multitask well? I tried that once but didn't get very far. Being IMed by 2 people whilst trying to find out what "constant flow" is in terms of physics does not make for a good learning environment.

Get a daily schedule going. Basically, I have a big printout over my bed in my dormroom, running from Sunday to Saturday. It has:

Every class I have on it, color coded.

Time dedicated to homework (if I have no homework, I read. No NS. Not even the forums.)

Time for studying. I like going to the library, but find your own quiet spot.

Time for chores. (ie: laundry from 9-12 saturday morning)

Time for relaxing. No games, nothing. Nada, zip & zero. Pure downtime.

Mealtimes.

Time to excersize.

Time dedicated to NS & the forums.

Make your own list with your own priorities, and then here is the one last thing you have to do: STICK WITH IT!
