Hopefully all this can be done with the hl2 engine and so on ---
if u play starcraft then u know what im talking about
i dont know if anyone has come up with a process like i have , probably yes.
im just bored and thought id share with you people.
Based on natural selection but a bit different... sorta like a mod for the ns mod.
Maps would be either Terran vs Zerg , terran vs protoss , protoss vs zerg and so on in many other combinations.
so some maps would have a ready room just like ns, but u could join whichever one u want.
maps would be outdoorsy just like starcraft , with cliffs and stuff like that
BASICALLY STARCRAFT BUT TURNED INTO NATURAL SELECTIONISH TYPE OF GAME.
The terran team would go sort of like this --

players spawn into a spot on the map which has a command center (which the commander goes into to command)
other players are civilians with no attack other than maybe punch and a knife or something <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
the terran team would get 150 res for 3 scv suits which will be made at the command center , the suits will then
pop out nearby the cc and players would get in them and manually have to mine resources from nearby mineral deposits.
the suits would be non takeoffable . . . just like heavy armor in ns.(reason for this is the zerg and protoss worker method)
so there would have to be a couple workers gathering minerals for the terran team, then they would have to build barracks and
other buildings that give upgrades and other unit types and so on...
if an scv would want to go back to civilian mode he would go into a recyclery which would give the team back the res for
the scv suit it took to made and the player would be there as a normal civilian.
in order for it to be a marine , the commander has to build a marine suit / weapon combo at the barracks which then
spawns by the barracks. there would also be a firebat (only buyable after academy is built) a ghost (academy needed)
and a medic suit (academy also) ..
engenerring bay would give weapon and armor upgrades lvls 1 - 2 - 3 and academy would also give special upgrades.
armory would give vehicle armor and aircraft armor also lvls 1 - 2 - 3.
supply depots would also limit the amount of special suits the commander can build.
turrets would be anti air and anti ground , shooting at both types of units with rockets , attack would be greater
against air units than ground units. they would also detect cloked units nearby (sort of like the observatory)
the cc would also have the satt comm add on , or the nuke silo addon, which would have their own upgrades.
bunkers would be life size just like all the other buildings so u can go into them - (btw maps would be really big)
reducing gun accuracy at range and stuff like that.
the vechicles and aircraft for the terran would be built at the factory or spaceport , vehicle would spawn by the building or
at rally point given by commander.
players use the vehicles , fly / drive around and stuff , they could also leave the vehicle so other players could get in.
and that would be basically the way the terran team would work. gathering resources and then fighting and so on.
Zerg team gameplay-

there would be no 3 hives , just one starting base (a hive, duh) players spawn as larvae
YES there would be a "commander" for the team , a hive lord or some fancy name like that,
for now ill refer to it as the commander ...
so the commander would select the players , and morph them into a selected species of alien.
the team would start out with 150 resources - which would be enough to morph 3 players into drones
so they could gather resources.
in order for players to be able to go to zergling species one of those spawning pool things would have to be built
each zergling would cost 25 res.
a hydralisk den would be needed for players to go hydralisk
ultralisk cavern needed for players do go ultralisk
as for building buildings - the drone player would go to a location and in its menu would select which building to morph to
the building starts building - but the drone player looses its droneness and turns back into larvae
defense buildings would be creep colonies - which then would morph into sunkens for land defense or spore colonies for anti air
- spores would also detect cloaked units -
evolution chamber and spire would upgrade the attacks and armor of the zerg units and so on
queen nest ,defiler mound , would be needed for creation of queens and defilers which would have special attacks.
nydus canal would allow transportation for the zerg.
as for the purple creep , thats open for discussion!!! i have no preferance.
and blah blah blah the rest of the stuff would be basically taken from starcraft
so basically just starcraft for hl2 but the players can take part as the units!!

i cant really see what you are coming from though, make a whole new mod, or modify ns's models
Concept is nice, but i think your definetly gonna have to make yourself a new mod using ns if you want all that

as for it being a whole different mod from ns , i duno
cuz it would be like ns just with a starcraft feel and a buncha changes
so i guess it would be an extremely modified version of ns javascript:emoticon(':)')
another thing is that , if any of you have seen the far cry preview movies , demonstrating its engine and so on,

but with ns stuff of course , starcraft would be kool tho ! guess we will just hafta stick with custom skins and models
but then its gonna be very complicated big maps like bigger then the game itself would come out then the **** will be even bigger then hl2 well then blizzard finds out and they not gonna be happy bout it coz starcraft is truely from them. like if u want the toss zerg and ran in one game the maps would be SO FR**KING BIG u cant like imagin . u got the minerals what the scv gotta get well there has to be a distance between the toss's minerals and the ran then u need to get a big map thats point one point 2 u said lifereal buildings i mean god jezus crap then that is like sc2 but then on the hl2 engine :S life real barracks life real tanx gosh
