a teaser of my latest project.
Now when its a new year and everything I decided to post a little teaser of my latest project.
I got caught in the trend and decided to give the Deep Eyes armour a go.
But as I have started to create a real life replica of the armour I will probably only finish the helmet model.

The model isnt 100% accurate but it still looks like the Deep Eyes if you ask me.
About 30% done and a polycount at 840 atm it will be my last model made in Milkshape 3D before I move on to 3DS Max.

C&C are appreciated...

Well enough said.. here it is:

Doubt you'll ever put it in game thats why I hate these threads with models that never get finished nice though.

It's always nice to see the work of others, whether it makes it in game or not.

It's a Creation forum NOT a going to be released for ns in 5minutes forum... If you hate these threads, try to avoid em.

Progress will probably be rather slow cuz I got lits of balls in the air right now but I will keep the thread updated and I will finish the model.

Thanks for the good crits sofar.

And we have an update... the clock is 06.34 AM here in Sweden now so this will be the last update before I go to bed.
Its just a test and the thingies on the sides will probably be remade with some more polys added to them...

Well heres the pic, enjoy (184kb):

Who said that you cant make decent looking models in Milkshape 3D.

    C&C please.

I know that moddeling is not 5 minute work but I don't trust anybody that makes a player model from scratch and dosent release it well I trust brig cause he released his model from scartch my advice to you is to find another fourm toi show off your model.

hey, thats not necessary. he can show off anything thats related to ns or possible replacements to ns, and its his choice to pursue or finish it. theres no rule that you cant tease.

and for the update, thats the sexiest thing ive seen in the forums, player wise. IF you finish that, im definitely using it.

    good work bro,

Im not sure I understand what you mean.. Dont you trust that its I who made the model if I dont release it for NS?
you can see progress between the first and the second picture... And I didnt see the meaning in posting screen of it before you could see what it was.

Sure I can release it. But its not the best model to use in game considering its far from finished but already consists of almost 1600 polys. 1600polys x 8marines = 12800polys
And then we need a decent body model aswell as the rest of the helmet.
Also... to release it I would need someone to mesh it cuz I dont know who to mesh and to be honest with you.. I dont think anyone would like to do that.

But if your still not convinced that I am making this model from scratch then feel free to come visit me in Sweden and watch while im working on it.

Pointman, you are my opposite on this forum. I'm of the opinion that this is a forum to discuss the models and modelling. I do NOT see this forum as a place to download models so you can improve the visual quality of your game. That's what websites like T2K and NSA are for. My opinion is contrary to what the mods here want. Refer to the new forum name for example.

I'm here to show off my work, and look at others. Share techniques and work on collaborative projects. If someone, like Nottingham wants to show off whatever it is, that's fine. Other notable mentions are Sheena's and Coil's works.

I'm a member of many MSA forums. I have skills in all aspects of half-life model making. I'm not very good in any particular one, but I can still do a fairly good job. Most of my work is never released, or even publicized. For example, I have skinmeshed Burn's XM8 and even skinned it and used it in game. I'd never release it because I know only I could appreciate it.

I see your kind. The ones here who:
    - Have no skills
    - Not interested in learning
    - Only looking to download other's work
    - Vocal

As a distraction to the participating members of this forum. You clog the forum with inane posts and drive away talent by rejecting their work, as in this case because you can't use it in game.

The mods don't see it the way I do, but I think it makes a lot of sense. So I'm going to stick with it.

Why does everyone reffer to half-life 2 when a high poly model is made. It is stupid, if i convert a few models from hl2 and put it in Hl, it would run exactly the same if i made exactly the same level for both hl and hl2, I would probaly get the same fps. So just 'cause it's high poly count won't make fps better in hl2.

aye... besides, ppl say that hl crashes on extreme hi poly models... it doesnt, i had like 300,000 polies on screen and my comp stayed at 24 fps (the rate the human eye interprets images)

As far as I'm concerned, the only things preventing anyone from making something that looks good in Milkshape are a lack of patience and skill, as Nottigham is quie brilliantly displaying.

So, you ripped a copy of 3DSMax and taught youself to do whatever in 3DSMax. Sure, Milkshape isn't as expensive or full-featured as 3DSMax, but it's nothing to blow snot at. With the right mindset, it gets the job done, no matter that you refuse to sully your perfect hands with it after tasting the delicious fruit of Hollywood prestige software.

I could make comments about the crap people carelessly make with 3DSMax that I fix in Milkshape because they're more concerned with having a thousand little buttons to do a thousand tlittle hings and never bother themselves with their own actual hand-eye skill. So what? Big deal. I don't see you forking over the $20 to use Milkshape legally, nor the however-many thousands of dollars to use that wonderful 3DSMax either.

Thanks, Pointman. You put in some real effort to crush Nottingham's will to continue. You gave it the ol' heave-ho attitude. Good job. Really, I salute you.

But what you're not realizing is that that's the attitude that tends to crush one's desire to continue, which means something doesn't get finished. Something doesn't make it to game time.

As Jamil said, you're doing nothing but clogging up the works. Putting a stopper on the flow of creative urges, which need to flow if anyone's going to do anything that you can download RIGHT NOW and use RIGHT NOW, at any point in the future.

Seeing as Nottingham's doing that in Milkshape, there's a good chance that it will be possible to use in an HL-engine setting. Seeing as he never said he had no intention of releasing it, he probably will.

If you shut up and move along. Or start providing some support to someone who's actually doing something constructive, the more of which there is, the better. Less creative work of any kind, means less releases for you to piddle around with at absolutely no cost to your own obviously over-worked self [all we ask is that you make four easy payments of $99.95 for shipping and handling! <8D].

After all, the thread title does say "[MWIP]." As in, "Model: Work in Progress." Not, "Model: Take it Now!" or "Model: I'm Just a Rotten Little Jerk Who's Going to Dangle Something Beautiful for You to Oggle Without Ever Giving You Anything Like Some Highschool Skirt at the Prom Who's Leaving With That Other Guy You Wish You Were!", which would come out to be something like "[MIJRLPWGDSBYOWEGYALSHSPWLWTOGYWYW]" [with the abbreviations of small intermediary words removed for expediency's sake] and doesn't even remotely resemble "[MWIP]". Right? Right.

Please excuse odd typoes as my wireless keyboard seems to have eaten a bad burito and is experiencing blockages...

    I try.

Now, I expect someone to actually start a thread with "[MIJRLPWGDSBYOWEGYALSHSPWLWTOGYWYW]". You know you want to!

And yes, as I hinted at in the first sentence of that previous post, I am quite enjoying this model. Good job, Nottingham! Three cheers!

Based on the photo with the brilliantly glowing blue lens eyes, I take it? To me, there's a big difference in the proportions of that thing on a stick and the models built for the film... I guess whoever built the thing in the photo found it more comfortable. The wideness of the actual thing might make it cumbersome. *chafe*
