I've always thought the aliens in NS were laughable-looking... I mean, the skulk is a fat sausage with little pointy legs. Fade has the WORST color-scheme I've ever seen: Let's give a stealthy ninja alien... PINK SKIN! YEAH!
to be honest i looked at alot of the concept art and thought this would be like when i used to play resident evil(i was only like 6,the snake coming down the chimney gave me nightmares), then i played it and i was like bleh you aint scary DIE!!!!...then i got eaten
I can garentee that this would probably be scary on the HL2 engine. The HL engine just doesnt do justice to the concepts and atmosphere that the game should have.
Really, if you saw one of these in real life you would probably crap your pants.

Heh, they're not very scary, except maybe the Fade when you're alone in ns_caged with 4 rounds left in your pistol and you hear the blinking noise behind you...
Get those models - I had them for a while and they were pretty fun and stupid. Scary they ain't, but there's something troubling about hearing the bite noise and being decapitated by a ravenous chicken. Things get weird when the chicken lerklifts the pig while its dropping OCs. Only one game that ever scared me, Halo. The aliens themselves just look like disintegrating zombies - a little worse than RE, but not by much. It was the absolute surprise and excellent suspense before you even see them that lodged the Flood permanantly in my nightmares.
If your friend is so sensitive to this kind of stuff, why does he play shooting games anyway? If he thinks that NS is disgusting, he will puke like crazy when he plays They Hunger.

He obviously can play FPS' so the violence is not an issue, and dont assume he cant stand to see semierotic themes just because he cant stand slimey monsters.
Its probably just a thingie. I mean, we all like different kinds of candy/music/whatever right? Well, different people get scared by different things. This could be something deeply personal for him, he just wont stand brutal monsters. Gotta respect that.
