Natural selection manual?

Seeing how the NDA is lifted would it be too much to ask if a manual of NS was released?

Of course you'd leave out stuff like settings and maps (No idea what maps have been finalised for an initial release), but it'd be nice to have a well formatted look at the classes, weapons, upgrades and tech trees.

Looking at the Warcraft3 tech trees on the official site always gives me new ways of building my army of the undead.

There is a manual being created right now.  It will include extensive overviews of both teams, all weapons and abilities, basic gameplay elements, and I believe will also include maps of the official maps.

I think it's Flayra's intention to release it shortly before NS itself, though I may be wrong.

Between not knowing when the manual will be done, not knowing when Natural Selection will be done, and not being Flayra anyway... I don't know.  (:

On one of my first posts here, back in July, there was question of a manual, and I suggested that it be released as soon as it looks professionally done to drum up even more interest in NS, and people picked that up and ran with it.  After a couple pages of posts, Flayra came on with a short and sweet post.  I don't remember his exact words (if it's an issue, I can go looking through past dead posts...like I said, it was one of my original posts, if anyone can find it), but he said, basically, "That's a good idea.  I just wish I had thought of it first.  I say, release the manual when it's ready."  Needless to say, I was very happy to read that.  It's stuck with me ever since, and I run it through my head whenever I need an ego boost.  ("Yeah, see, Flayra likes my idea.")

So, as of a couple of months ago, that was the declaration.  That may, however, be modified now.  But I certainly hope not.

If there's one message you can take away from State of Emergency, I think it's that capitalism has finally, irrevocably won. Using advanced technology developed in Japan and financed by a publishing company in the U.S., a group of smart people in Scotland has created what's possibly the most useless consumer product of all time ... Playing State of Emergency is like spiking the ball in the end zone of competing ideologies. Feel the burn, Marxism!

I origianlly thought the manual would come with the NS download, But I'm sure soon before release/on release they will release a web based one too.

And on the topic of Flayra boosting our egos, He loved my first sig and even let me keep it on for a while (and it was 80 kb, an animation I made of a Skulk and a Swordfighter, with the swordfighter ultimatley chopping mr. bob in half.)
That gives me an ego boost all the time <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

H'BNayr has it RIGHT on the money. Flarya almost said exactly <i>that</i>! Nice job, HB!

I have three words for the idea of releasing the manual before the game: Kick-ing arse.

I can't wait till the manual is released. It'll mean less questions to answer for me. On a side note, activity seems to have reached an all time high (just, in general). Good things come to those who wait. Sooner than you think . . .
Thanks for that wonderful phrase, Monse.

"Mostly they come out at night.... mostly."... I forgot who said that.

Hey... I didn't know MonsE had Psychic powers! Well, either that or I'm thinking waaay too early (read: tomorrow).

    *Takes a quick bow*

Surge, dude, that's four words, though.

    Heh.

As far as what I heard around, though, a great deal of the manual is done, and le artiste is waiting for a few people to submit some updated numbers before polishing the manual.  What this means in terms of time, is anyone's guess.

And Quad, I remember your introduction.  You said hi, and then three or four people said that your sig was too big (I thought it was neat, too...), and you had to nix it.  I believe a moderator even came by to tell you that you had to change it within two weeks, or something, when Flayra came along with a simple, "I kind of like it.  Can't we bend the rules this once?"  And it stayed.  Very nice.

Ah, memories...  From the corner of my mind...

I like it when things get released as they are done so long as they are not a necessary part of the game. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

As i said once before, i would be glad to help the NS team translate the manual into spanish if need be. I know not everyone here speaks english so i thought it might be nice to help them out with something like that.

Wel, the 'Soon' in that implies that NS is still months away from release. <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->

Seeing as NS has been 'Soon' to release for quite some time now. <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/Skin/SKIN-2/PostIcons/icon6.gif" border="0">

BTW: A german manual would be nice as well, the german HL players would also appreciate it. ^^
