Problems With Ns On Dod Standalone

I originally had NS on HL, but I lost HL. So I went and purchased the DoD standalone so I could play both NS and DoD. Well the problem is that the crosshairs do not show up, I get bad frame lag, sometimes I cannot use Phase Gates, and I the server usually counts me in the Ready Room when I am actually on a team. I am under the assumption that DoD standalone runs Steam, but the beta you have claims that Steam is not installed.

The problem is due to engine changes, so the only solution would be to buy normal HL. More info is included in the link.

Can't you use the DoD CD Key to get steam HL w/ NS?

That would be the easiest solution, just go and download Steam, and you will get Half-Life and all the other mods, since you already bought a valve cd key.
