<div class="IPBDescription">without any possible I-net</div> Hya, im playing Lan with some friends and we want to play CS (please don´t hurt me) 1.6. but for 1.6 we need steam.
And steam loads on my computer only if i have an internet connection (he checks for updates first).
i Know that CS has a play on lan option, but can´t get that far.
Anyone has any idea how this could work?

Fast answer appreciated, since it starts in 2hours <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    It's been brought up before, especially in the Steam forums.

    have you tried setting it to 'do not keep this software up to date'?
    I know they were announcing plans to take out the internet part of lanning but I've not bothered keeping track of what's happened to it ^^;

    You still need to log into the steam network to play, gem.

    But yes, they're working on a patch for steam that will allow offline LAN play. Who knows when it will be done.

    I've heard of people setting up "fake" cache servers that steam connects to, and its all local, but I'm not sure how it works or how to do it. Though not being able to play steam lan is really lame, having to keep two installs of all your mods is stupid.

    Connecting to a fake server won't help you if you don't have an internet connection to share.
