<div class="IPBDescription">A visit from the winey kind...</div>I have only been a member of the NS forums for a short time now, but it seems that following my initiation there has been floods of new forum members all wining about the same thing.
1.When is NS coming out
2.Could you update the 'Home Stretch' remark
3.The PT's are mean, make them stop
4.NS won't be out in summer
5.Please don't Flame me!!!
6.waaaaaaahh Ricky, babaloo
7.When WILL NS BE OUT?!?!
8.Stop saying "When it's done!"

I'm not proud of it... but I am one of them, it will take some time to heal but maybe we could overcome these 8 feats... if there is anyone out there that shares my views don't be afraid to come foward, or maybe somebody who could silence they ungodly questions and statements forever so not another noob of Generation Winey could pipe up with a new post saying something like "....Summer Release...." <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->

The sad thing is, all these questions *have* been answered.

    1) When it's done, ASAP, and sooner than you think.  No one wants this mod out more than Flayra.
    2) They have better and more pressing and productive things to do.
    3) Sometimes we snap; we have apologized before, and will again.  We *are* sorry for snapping at people.
    4) Maybe not.  Flayra's sorry.  He's working as fast as he can.
    5) Don't give us a reason to. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->
    6) And this is why we flame you. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->
    7) You already asked that.
    8) It's the best answer we can give you.  Put up or shut up, as the saying goes.  (:

Trust me, we *do* love you.  So does Flayra.  Please remember that he's the ONLY CODER NS has!  He's got people doing artwork, models, and animation... but 99% of the code is *his* creation.  And when you see what he's done to the HL engine, I hope the enormity of that fact registers.  He's been devoting 18 months of his life solely to NS.

There is a tear in my eye... thankyou- and I will make sure that the day NS is released that Flayra gets some *relief* sent over to his house if you know what I mean *wink* <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

    Out of complete curiosity:

How does he live off coding NS?  Surely there's no money in that... unless..

Unless Valve is secretly paying Mod developers to keep Half Life sales alive!  Oh ohmygod ohmygod that makes so much sense!  I win.

Seriously though, does he have a job or something?  Like you said, there's an awful lot of stuff that was never menat to be in HL, that's coded into NS.  And that's like fighting a donkey with a rubber band over a tin can.  I mean it's really hard.  And therefore would take a long time.

Who did the remaining 1% then?

<span style='font-family:ocr a extended'><span style='font-size:9pt;line-height:100%'>Actually, i believe (im not 100% sure...) in the beginning Flayra did this as a side-project, working and in his spare time making NS. But after a while, he started working on NS 100% and now lives of his savings he made earlier... (although he might been starting working again... im not sure). He does not get paid, this is all charity.

<span style='color:red'>***THINK ABOUT THAT BEFORE YOU NEWBIES START WHINING ABOUT WHEN THE MOD IS RELEASED!!!!!***</span>

While we all work, go to school, go to vacation Flayra is working day and night on getting NS out...

However, i think he is one hellofaguy, that he takes all this effort in getting NS released and still holds his peace about everything whining... If i was him i was snapped one time waaaay earlier and just erased the site or something...

<span style='color:black'>Do you think we playtesters are mean? I think there are a lot of other people who are mean to Newbies, but since they dont have Playtester Status they dont stand out so much</span>

<span style='color:black'>We playtesters are not mean. At least, were not trying to...</span>
But, should NS ever hit retail, i don't think Flayra had to work again. Just like gooseman, who is pretty much millionare...

And, imagine what a powerfull Currucilum Vitae Flayra has when NS gets released.. i can't think of anyone not accepting Flayra a job.</span></span>

Man, you guys are way off thinking Gooseman is a millionare, or even that he doesn't need to work for a living, and I'm sure he'd be the first to tell you.

And, yup, Flayra has been working off his hard earned savings for most of the duration of NS.  All of his own money, blood, sweat, and tears. No secret special funding from Valve.

Well, we all here at mod teams are amateurs, so the "WHEN WILL XXXX WILL BE RELEASED???" does depend much on when you get time to work for it. Here we pple study, work and generally have other things in life to do before our mod works. This Flayra's special case of him being a programmer and working for charity on this mod also makes him an amateur, as he does not recieve a single dollar for it, so all that little boys without no respect for mod team work (IMO) should just not log to the forums. FOrums are to talk, give ideas and recieve them, not for being childish as most of the pple who ask for NS release do. Let them work as they are the first who want us all to enjoy the mod.

THis . .thread . . is . . .sooo beautiful. SOB!SOB!. I really don't think I can add anything new, but I'd just like to reinforce how much respect Flay deserves for all the work he does. He obviously needs to have a LOT of savings to be able to live off them for that long, paying bills and eating. And those savings could easily be spent somewhere which provided more enjoyment than coding till the crack of dawn. All I have to say is "Way to go, FLay!". When I found out that you were working off your savings and draining them, I saw a real commttment. Its commitment like that which makes me love this mod all the more, knowing how dedicated it's creators are. Congrats, the game looks, feels, smells, and tastes beautiful.

Ewwww. You tried to eat NS?

I'm with everyone else here, Flayra has done an amazing job and should not be criticized for not having it out by the end of summer (which, BTW, was 2 days ago). The man is spending his money on making this free game for you. Appreciate it like it's the best thing ever to come out of this engine, which it is.

This post was lost in the forum changes but I'll try to rewrite as best as I can.

NS is a work of art.  It combines orginial ideas in a familiar format, stays true to its vision, makes you think, wonder, etc.  My kudos to the team.

I believe Flayra started working on NS exclusively after appearing at the Half-Life Mod Expo, where he recieved some funds to continue development of NS.  It wasn't much I recall, but it can't have hurt.

The cost of this new server can't be helping, poor ole Flayra <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://207.44.144.68/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->
