<div class="IPBDescription">marine upgrade</div> <b>Abot Skulk </b>
The ongoing wars between the TSA and Kharaa had yet yielded results for either side, as such, both started to explore new avenues in both technological and biological advancements to gain an upper edge in battle. The TSA marines decided to combine both aspects of this, and a result was achieved; The ‘Abot Skulk’. Half alien, half machine, this new innovation combined the latest in Biomechanics, Nanotechnology, and Mechatronics to produce a creature built for tracking and scouting for frontline TSA Marines.
Many marine teams had begun to return live samples of ‘Skulks’ to the TSA, and finally the TSA had a reason for this. The Skulks were subdued and outfitted with the latest in TSA Tracking technology, meanwhile Kharaa specialists rewired their brains to be fully obedient to the TSA marines, turning the once instinctual and deadly animal into a now obedient ‘slave’. Combining the Skulk’s Hive Sight with the TSA’s Tracking technologies, the Abot Skulk was the ultimate tracker; Completely mobile with the ability to traverse walls and roofs, while entering otherwise inaccessible vents, Jeffrey’s tubes and other hazardous obstacles, the Abot can easily track down all enemy Kharaa in the local vicinity. Combined with the simple fact that the Abot was still primarily a member of the Kharaa species, the real Kharaa never attacked the mechanical hybrid.
To the marine teams, the Abot posed no threat. The reprogramming was always complete, and as an added precautionary measure, their jaws are permanently wired together using a near unbreakable alloy wire, fashioned using buckytubes and heavy-metal elements. Atop of this, a remote ‘shutdown’ trigger is issued with every Abot, shutting down every synapse in the Abot’s central nervous system; effectively decommissioning the Abot, permanently.
Each Abot is identified by a barcode system located on their upper-left hip, along with a unique brand. This brand is permanently etched into their genes during reprogramming and installation, each upgrade and maintenance of the Abot accompanies a new brand system to easily identify the make, age, and status of the Abot during field operations. Continuing studies are now in progress for the creation of Abot Fade models, although specimens are harder to acquire than the Skulk.
edit: thanx to Trojan from the ausns forums for re-writing the story line for the pic.

tho how is the skulk gonno attack if his mouth is sowed up >.<
poor widdle skulk
//:Edit Dragon got their first >.<
When it does happen though, the nanites already have the advantage, and that where the tube comes in. Originally, the skulk should have a vein there. Assuming that I'm correct, it's there to subdue the skulk immobile IF it happens to go all loco.
In short, it's used to stop a skulk from going astray. Think electrification technology <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
But I dont like it, personally.
The colours are bright and happy..like the blue visor...the colours need to be thought about..as it can translate into mood and feel.
For such a foul evil beast, the colours should be alot darker..more menacing.
The metal plates dont look like its on the actual body..and vary from the drawing style of the skulk.
OMG teh drawing AND the story to it pwns my 4ss !!!
I'de love to see a longer storyline or some fanfics using the abot in the fanfics forum...
PM me if someone plans to, i wanna be the first to read it!
