<div class="IPBDescription">small combat map.</div> Well, after ulysses, i wanted to do another combat map, but this time smaller. The idea is basically to have 3 rooms: Hive, MS and central choke point. 2 ways out/in hive MS to CCP each and thats it. Then add some vents to have a 2º way to the hive/MS. Ive managed to complete maybe 70% of the map already, just need to do the hive, RR and vents.

Lets hope i can finish it soon.

map looks pretty dark btw so ill try to fix that.

    Very good, i like the gold lighting an the MS.
    Keep the darkness in there would make for some very intense and scary action.

    Where is the multicolored lighting you used to have? Where will the gorges have a disco party!?!?!?

    is it too dark? ns cant be TOO dark. and if blueman didnt manipulated the screenshots, the map will be much lighter if he used additiv gamma... nice.     I love the evading darkness, it really gives a sense of isolation.
    The running theme of the red lights re-instates the darkness yet in an evil sense.

    thx for the comment guys, i just need to do the hive (which ill do next weekend, got an exam this thursday) and add vents.

    About the layout, <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> , just imagine 3 rooms in a row, connected both at the sides with the one in the middle by 2 corridors each. some vents and thats it. Im aiming for a really small and intense map.

    yeah, I got the that feeling from the screenshots.
    Great idea of small compact surroundings, and surprisingly not really encorporated into many maps..not to the degree that this is looking <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The smaller the map, the more the tense and paranoid state of gameplay is increased.

    Cant wait to play this

    I just noticed, why are blue/green lights giving off white light? Its just a simple texture switch to fix.

    yeah youre right, kinda strange. The problem is there is no "white" light in that format and i did test with blueish light before and loked horrible, so switched to white and now i like it.

    Ill look to change it if its possible

    Gah, I have to redownload hammer on the weekend. I have a layout to a combat map fininshed...but wow. Thats amazing. (I still have to learn how to do lighting and entities, doors etc..)

    Man I wish I knew how to map that good. I like the idea of just three rooms, and one room where all the action takes place. I'm gonna try that...like, right now.

    ha.ze...practice is all you need.

    The thing is though, VHE, like many things, consumes alot of time.

    it looks awesome, i like how the red lights "drip" onto the floor... very beautiful effect.

    one thing: when you have that curving hallway, the floor grate texture very jarringly gets cut off at an angle (pic #4). Can you put a small border at each corner so it looks like the grates aren't running together?

    oh, more than a month later im able to open VHE again and finish the basic paths of the map. Just done a 1º version of the hive, which looks empty. i will be adding detail and the vents to the maps through this next week and have a playtest build soon. PM me anyone that wants to test it.

    btw DrunkenMonkey, where did you test co_ether?
