2 Problems That Recur

first is the gamma problem with my ati card. the game starts up normally but then after ~5 minutes you get a 5-10 sec 'wall hack' and then it changes the gamma very low. Then sometimes it goes back up but anyway...
I have a new Radeon 9700 pro upgraded from a geforce 4 4400...im thinking i might have forgotten to get rid of my old drivers which might work but if someone could help...
Second problem that is with all half life mods...every couple minutes i automatically switch to my first weapons (like when you press 1) but i don't press the button to switch it. I have NO clue what is up with this...anyone have any ideas?
