Some Of My Keys Aren't Work In Natural Selection

I never had any problems before but now in natural selection i can no longer use my previously used weapon key, no matter how many times i bind it. My scroll down on my mouse that i use for cycling down through weapons no longers works. no matter what i do. And and i pust the talk key and type my message in it is never sent. This is very frustrating. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled it, and all the keys work perfectly fine in counterstrike. I've played natural selection for at least six months with no problems but I have no idea how to fix this. So any help is appreciated.

What mouse do you use?

And have you changed anything important before the problems began? (different mouse drivers for example)

nope i haven't changed anything, before they began. I got a new video card recently but the problems happened before then. And my mouse is a logitech wireless optical trackball. But like i said the only problem the mouse is having on the game is the scroll down, which works on CS.

try to default it then re-configure ur controls to normal

I did. I was just playing a game, and everything worked fine except one of the cycle weapons buttons. The next map i could cycle through my weapons but whenever i hit fire it never switched to them. So i was stuck with my initial weapon. ANd somehow in the beginning it worked, but the previous button wouldn't work anymore. And i've binded the commands to different keys, but its almost like the commands are locked out.

Try to bind all keys how you want them in the config.cfg (by hand, without starting the game), then put a writeprotection on it.

some of those problems are known issues (like the scrolling through weapons is actualy a bug in the menu, you have to do that bind by hand)

yah, just do those binds by hand and see what happens

ok that fixed my scroll wheel issue, but it still won't let me choose and attack/weapon in the inventory menu. Whenever i press fire on the attack i want to switch to it exits the menu and doesn't do anything. And btw how can i write protect the config.cfg? btw thanks so far.

hmm fastswitch (hud_fastswitch 1) should fix your problem (you don't have to 'fire' after selecting the gun, it changes immediately).

and for the config:
just enable write protection in file properties (right mouse on the file -> properties).

How new are you to NS?

you do know that you have to have built hives to have access to higher grade alien weps....

If this happens on both aliens and marines then my guess is your trying to run a lan server, if so try and join an internet server first.

Also note:
hud_fastswitch 1 DOESNOT effect previnv and nextinv only if you are ussing the slot keys. (personaly I use the slot keys b/c they are faster)

i've been playing ns for about half a year. I'm only trying to switch to abilities i have. like bite and parasite. it simply will not let me select them in the inventory menu.

is this on a LAN or on another server?

If it is on a LAN there are some bugs (I think dealing with stuff like meta mod or something that mess it up)

try ussing hud_fastswitch 1 and then the slot keys (make sure they are bound properly by simply typing "bind 1" in the con (no quotes yada yada yada)
