<div class="IPBDescription">Very good</div> <a href='http://www.bushin30seconds.com' target='_blank'>http://www.bushin30seconds.com</a>
Some of them are sorta contrived (The 'in my country') but the best is probably the 'What are we teaching our children'. I think they're spot-on and a great summerization of everything bush has done and is really doing 'for our country'. Liberal propaganda?
MonsE: No while technically not for 'discussion' it does fit into the overall ideals of the discussions forum, it is political... I can't imagine the responses this would get in 'off topic' . I mean technically the 'who will you vote for' thread isn't disucssion worthy either, that's just an opinion thread.

oh right. In that case, yeah its pretty funny.
it showd WW2 footage of Hitler doing on of his speeches to the public.
Hitler was saying to the masses...
"We wil fight for our our country, our people, for freedom, against terror and opression blablabla"
Then it showed Bush doing the same thing lol after a 9/11 speech.

Except Hitler was carrying out mass murders and genocide. Remember those gas chamber things? And the death camps?
Oh yeah, you were having another bout of selective memory.

emm no I just stated what the comerical had in it. thus adding more information about this site (which is the topic of this thread)
I had nothing to do with making it. nor did I say I agreed/disagreed with it.
No memory problems what so ever I know my world history. No need to flame me <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

He's talking about ideological speeches made to the people to gain loyalty and trust. You're talking about genocide that was senseless and atrocious.
Who's the one selective here?

...gain loyalty and trust to commit genocide. So far Bush hasn't done the genocide part. So connecting him to Hitler is kind of an ignorant man's fad.

Theres plenty of things we can compare between hitler and bush besides the genocide thing. Hitler was a very manipulative leader he conviced the people that what he wanted to do was best for them. That he was some one with integrity, someone they could trust. He controlled the public through propoganda and did his best to silence those who opposed him. Hitler is an example of evil in a leader, not just evil in a man.

Foxman, ADL National Director and author of Never Again? The Threat of the New Anti-Semitism, issued the following statement:
It is shocking that a mainstream political group like MoveOn.org not only allowed this vile and outrageous comparison of the American President to Adolf Hitler to be entered into its "Bush in 30 Seconds" contest in the first place, but that they even went so far as to make it available to the public on the Internet. Those responsible for this contest at MoveOn.org should have immediately identified this advertisement as one going far beyond legitimate criticism and rejected it out of hand. Instead, they made an irresponsible decision that has given legitimacy to the exploitative manipulation of images in a campaign season.
MoveOn.org clearly would not have accepted a pornographic ad as legitimate criticism of a candidate. Why did they think that images of Hitler, the Nazi whose evil regime was responsible for the slaughter of millions of people during the Holocaust, was a fitting and credible expression of criticism of President Bush and his policies? Their lack of discretion cheapens the level of political discourse in America, and their comments explaining it were hardly comforting.

What peole here are doing is called syllogism. "Hitler did bad things that I do not like. George Bush did bad things that I do not like. Therefore, George Bush is the same as Hitler". It's not only incorrect, it's laughably misplaced and ignores history, circumstances, and degree. And most importantly, it says 'You 10 million Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, Slavs, POW's, etc. that died as a result of a madman are going to be used as pawns in my dislike of some forgettable politician that no one will even remember in 20 years".
Coolness, people managed to actually make this into a topic worthy of discussion. I shall move it back over if it stays somewhat intellectual. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Remeber Bush invaded Iraq last year?
Remeber the bombing of areas populated mostly by innocents, just because Sadam had a place there or something, and the fact he never found any WMDs?

Yeaaahhhh, uh what? So anyone that invades another country is Hitler? FDR was Hitler? Churchill was Hitler? Abraham Lincoln was Hitler? You managed to either not understand or not read my previous post, as your response was to make another syllogism.
If we invaded France without any proof or evidence, do you think other people would like it?
edit: wait a minute... i watched the "what are we teaching our kids" video and it never once said the name of bush, mentioned a republican or anybody at all. the fact that you guys made the reference between those horrible statements by the kids and our beloved president shows what you truly think of him! you unpatriots!! (feels like mccarthyism)
Contrary to what the 'liberal' media has reported, the ads weren't produced or supported by moveon.org, and they were voted quite far out of consideration by its members, and the vast majority of the feedback placed was negative. I know this because my roommate is a member and has educated me on what actually occurred. I've <i>seen</i> it.
It's frustrating, because the Right seems to enjoy carte blanche in comparing its opposition to murderous thugs/dictators. Just the other day, the Post's Ralph Peters compared Howard Dean to Hitler and his internet followers to the gestapo (<a href='http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/opedcolumnists/4965.htm' target='_blank'>link</a>):
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->But Howard Dean and his Deanie-weenies do all they can to restrict the free speech of others. I can predict with certainty that Dean's Internet Gestapo will pounce on this column, twisting the facts and vilifying the writer, just as they do when anyone challenges Howard the Coward. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->These are the techniques employed by Hitler's Brownshirts. Had Goebbels enjoyed access to the internet, he would have used the same swarm tactics as Dean's Flannelshirts. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Listen to Dean's rhetoric, especially on security and international issues. He never offers specifics; it's all hocus-pocus. He knows how best to deal with terrorists. We voters from the humble Volk need to take it on trust. He understands how to employ our military more effectively - despite dodging the draft during the Vietnam War.
Dean's going to improve our intelligence system, too. How? If pressed, he may go so far as to mention HUMINT - a term he doesn't understand - or the need for more Arabic speakers. Great, Herr Howie. We agree. But how does he intend to develop our human intelligence capabilities?

Where's the outrage?
The RNC, who absolutely <a href='http://www.rnc.org/Newsroom/Releases/Jan04/MoveOn2.htm' target='_blank'>lost their ****</a> when they became aware of these ads, coincidentally authorized an ad against Max Cleeland, a legless Vietnam vet, comparing him to Osama Bin Laden because he was against the war in Iraq.
Again, where was the outrage?
So forgive me if I don't shed a tear over these ads (especially given their context-- and the amusing fact that they only time they will EVER have aired on television was on Hannity and Colmes and the O'Reilly factor), nor join in the vocal indignation that's so over the top it sounds like it's coming out of a bad dinner theater.
Feel better now BM? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
But come on, all I'm asking for is parity here. How is the op/ed section of a major newspaper any less significant than the contest section of a grass roots political organization's website?
In both cases, the comparisions are ill conceived and dishonest. <i>Both</i>.
It's all a matter of selective hearing.
