I fail to see why this is a BAD thing....
you can compleatly blow off the final and it won't realy effect your grade

cool. or you can be like me, take all the ap classes you can, absolutely do no work for the class and study your **** off for the AP test so you can still get Cs or Bs in the classes .
and now you are the hopeless one.

is
A+A+B=B
A+A+f=B
due to a really messed up grading proceedure as you say, or was your final graded on a curve.
(A really lopsided but possible curve, - you would have to know how the other students did)
When cgrades are put into a grading curve, you can end up with really lopsided grades, meaning if 90% of the class gets 100% and the other 10% of the students get like a 90% then that 90% could equal an F.

That is really strange. However theres a way you can use it to your advantage.
Don't study for your final and get a b in the class. Other than that there's not much you can do other than fight the system, and we all know when you fight the system you can't win.
Compared to the way graduation grades are being calculated in Germany, you are all whimsy little whiners with crystal clear system, believe me. They had to literally upgrade our schools PCs so they could do the necessary calucations.
I still don't get the alphabetical grading in America and other countries that use it... Here in The Netherlands, you get a grade between 1 and 10, 1 being the worst and 10 the best. I think it's the same in Germany but inverted, right(not talking about finals, etc.)?
Oh well, carry on with your complaints, I'm just rambling.
There's two different grading systems used at German schools (don't even get me started on the unis here). The basic one goes from 1 (best) to 6 (worst). Additionally, the upper classes are being measured in points from 0 (failure) to 15 (heaven), with three points corresponding to one grade - 15 is for example a '1+', 14 is a plain 1, 13 is a '1-'. To make things more interesting, not each grade has the same significance, partly due to curse choices of the pupil, partly due to predefined laws. Additionally, our finals are seperated into oral and written exams, which are yet again valued differently, and likewise, the written exams are divided amongst themselves.
Now keep in mind that this was the short version in which I left out all the figures...
My U.S. History teacher has his own curve. Bascially, he doesn't teach us anything, so when the highest score on the test is a C, he takes the test out of a looot less points and gives everyone 10 more points. Then he gives us easy extra credit ( sign your mid-term, get 5 points? Bring a kleenex box, 5 points), so it looks like we have good grades.

Nem, your grading system is predefined by LAW?
All the schools I have been to work on this: Teacher decideds how to grade their class, end of story.
So if they wana give 1 test and base your ENTIRE grade on said test, well you better do well but in general in HS it was Tests counted for around 40-80%, HW for 20-5%, Labs(if there were any) 20-50%, random other stuff filling in the rest (projects, attendance, class participation etc)
In college it tends to be: Tests averaged to gether = final grade (often with midterm/final getting slightly more weight), IF there was HW or projects they get tossed in there, generaly not counting for all that much (like up to 20% total)
Oh, and Eagle woyuld you mind EXPLAINING how this system of grading works (Instead of being snarky at those people who didin't exactly get your sorta illegible picture?)
look, is it: 3 semesters? grades from random tests during the 2 semesters and a final test? what?
If your saying that all of your work through out 2 semesters is weighted considerably more then a single test I fail to see why this is a bad thing...

If you get an A, A, F it is the same as A, A, B...
You missed the point, you get to read my sig.

It just gets stupid if there are 3 grades.

For example:
English: 85%
French: 67%
Math: 72%
Computers: 89%
Biology: 53%
Final grade: 73.2% (You just average all of those grades together.)
The only problem is that a passing grade is 60% in some provinces and 50% is others.
