A hello & a poll.
Hey all,

Most of the forums know me anyway, but yes, I am a self confessed RPG dweeb. However, as I have explained many times, the best way to not be considered a nerd is to thrive on it. Just tell people, "yeah, but it's kinda cool, we have a laugh and don't take it too seriously." and you won't get those looks anymore.

I come from an RPG'ing background though, with quite a few previous groups, as well as working for quite a few years for Games Workshop before deciding I needed to get a proper job which paid properly. So I may be biased.

So, Lo to the RPG portion of the NS boards, and here's my poll to kick us off.

D&D. Was it better at 2nd or 3rd Edition?

My 2c? 3rd. All the way. Such an improvement, that should have been done earlier.

personally, i like 2nd edition better. yes, it has a lot of little problems. but 3rd has one big problem. its not d&d
its not even similer. shure, the inverted AC system is a little easyer, saving throws needed the tweaking.

i mean really, the made the terrisque killable! whassup with that?

yes, there needed to be improvements. but you didnt have to switch over to a whole different system!

Must admit that I have never played second edition.

Third edition is fine, as a game. But it's not a roleplaying game. The rules are so strict, so specific and so unflexible that they are a hindrance to roleplaying rather than a help. If only I could convince the gaming group to start playing werewolf, that game is so much bettter.
