Ya, the operating systems are both Windows: ME, how can I find out weather they are FAT or NTFS?

Have you tried setting the drive to be a slave, via the jumpers on the backplate (i.e. where you plug in the cables)? More simply, what are the settings on your current drive and this one you want to move? Master, Slave, Cable-Select?

I set it to slave, i think, but the data wouldn't transfer, I got the drive with all the space I hadn't used before to show up.

I think I can explain that. When the bios decides that your config ain't working (lots of errors and crashes will do it), it tends to reset things. Notice anything different in your bios config?
