<div class="IPBDescription">and my asus mobo</div> Hello,
A while back built myself a pc, and used an asus p4g8x deluxe motherboard. Now, on asus' site it says it can handle max pc2100 ddr ram, so at the time I stuck two 512mb sticks in there. My question is, how feasible do you think it is that the board will function with something a lil faster, say pc2700 without need for modification and tweaking. More specifically, anyone have any direct experience with such a matter?

Thanks!

ok, the ram is backward compatible, in other words, you could throw pc4000 in there, but the fact is, the mobo will only use it as 2100. hope that helps

The bios will automatically detect the RAM speed as 2100, which I don't know what frequency that is, but for comparison 3200 is 200mhz. Say you stuck in some 3200, it would autodetect at 2100 speed, and yes you can overclock the ram, but that tends to also screw over system stability if you dont keep the ram the same frequency as the bus speed.

Rule - Don't mess with the bios unless you know exactly what your doing.
