Possible commander view issues

<div class="IPBDescription">The commander view + function problems</div>Since the NS team have cleverly thought of the commander view i just wanted to create this topic in case anyone had any problems or finds anything problematic about the view and function. I personally have a few questions i would like to put forth as i do not understand the concept. Firstly how will the commander move ? will it use similar controls to C&C where to hold down the right mouse button and scroll or will you use a combination of mouse + keyboard ? Secondly will the commander be able to click onto a marine or alien and find out what health/ammunition/player details the troop has? Also if a sentry is created by the commander will it come with a limited amount of ammunition or will it have an inexuastable amount until it is destroyed or replaced?
Sorry if i sound like a newb but i was just curiuos and at the moment want to found out everything possible about the mod <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Welcome Steppio.

You can use the mouse, by moving your pointer to the screen edges, or you can use your arrow keys. Both are pretty standard for Real-Time Strategy game players.

There will be sprites that show you status on structures and players, such as ammo, health, etc. You will just click or lasso them to see this sort of thing.

Currently, ammo is unlimited, and the firing mechanism is what keeps the weapon under control (i.e, the bigger sentries fire less frequently). There have been talks of tracking overheating though, in order to give the aliens a brief window to rush a turret after sacrificing some swarm mates. The Marines can also use their welders to repair damaged sentries.

    Hey Steppio.

MonsieurEvil has it right.  The only other thing is that sentries might need ammo to be refilled.  In this case, I think the commander would add ammo himself, or players might be able to drop ammo themselves to refill them.

i think the players should reinsert ammo! this would be cool: there is a way it has to be inserted or something, which the commander cannot do... imagine: the marines are under attack, but they can hold it down with the help of turrets, which are zooming of their sprays... then suddenly they begin to click... they are out of ammo, and the marines know they are goners...

I like the idea of both players and commanders being able to refill a turret. I agree it would be neat if there were a list of the turrets made and their ammo status, sort of like the commander view in Tribes1/2. Except in those games the turrets had unlimitied ammo. The list only showed the turret's health.

hmm yeqh turrets shouldn't have unlimited ammo, and i think the players should be the only ones that can "refill"those turrets, otherwise it would be 2 easy, just a click for the commander and they're ready 2 go.

And if there would be a list too, the commander would surely be able to click it (moving to the turret), and there would be no effort, not even searching the turret.

-> which gives me an idea... Is the commander noticed when battle occurs? it would be cool when a marine shoots an alien or the other way around, the commander gets a little icon on his screen, clicking it would make him instantly go there. This icon would be on screen for about 10 secs. Just like in Dungeon keeper.

When a player or structure on your team is attacked, the commander hears a "Your team is under attack".  The commander can then press space (or whatever you have bound for jump) to go immediately to the scene of the battle.
